So back in January I was looking to buy a BC Rich KK Wartribe (Kerry King sig model). List price is WAY too high ($4100 or so) and the wait is at least a year, especially since BC Rich was bought by HHI and the custom shop moved to Ohio or something like that.
So. To make a LONG story short, I bought 2 other BC Rich guitars. Told myself no more. Then got a fat tax return. Found a guy on ebay selling this. Backdoored it for a good price. It was pretty much never played and had ZERO wear on it. And here it is:
This is a heavy guitar., almost like a Les Paul. Neck thru, all maple. EMG 81/85 combo. Kahler trem. Black hardware. The neck is narrow like my other 2 BC's, but thicker. The EMGs sound killer thru both Mesa Boogie amps I own; a TON of gain, but still very clear. Acoustically, it's got a good sound, but the Beast is 10 times louder. It feels heavier than the Beast. As far as sound, I haven't had a ton of time to crank it up, but it has a more midrangey sound than the other 2 BC's.
The action is low but the truss needs some adjusting. The Kahler works fine. It's black chrome but the fine tuner knobs and the saddles are a matte finish..like they're anodized. The string rollers appear to be stainless steel. I like the sids of the Kahler...they're angled so it makes resting your palm a bit easier. Also, the fine tuners are nice and tight. The nut is a Floyd Rose type nut.
It's got a Widow headstock with a handpainted tribal graphic. The whole guitar balances really well and feels incredbily solid. The body is pretty thick as well.
Here it is with it's unholy breathren:
My only gripes: I wish it had neck binding, a slightly thinner body, and a separate battery jack. The case is a G&G type, but it's gray with black ends, has the BC Rich logo on it, and the interior is molded to the body shape.
I spoke to some JCF members/dealers about their BC Rich's and I really didn't have the cash at the time...so please don't think I was yankin your chain when I was asking prices. When this one came up, I just couldn't resist
