• Carvin DC747 7-String in da house!

Ahhh.... How sweet it is to walk in the door and be greeted with a new axe!

Details:
Custom Shop DC-747
SUPER Flamed KOA top w/ matching headstock
Tung Oiled Neck
All Gold/Brass hardware
Strung-Thru
Sperzel Locking Tuners
Ebony Fretboard with no Inlays

This is a NAMM 2000 Guitar and was also featured in there Catalog. Everything about this guitar is COMPLETELY perfect. I can't even find a scratch on it.

Plays like a champ. The Neck is a tad bit thicker than my Ibanez Universe, but suprisingly enough, it's quite comfortable!

I'll be ordering a new one once I can figure out what I want to do with my Universe! I feel absolutely GUILTY for getting this at such a unbelievable price! hahahahah

Excellent!!
That's interesting that they didn't use a white logo on the headstock. They usually only use black on light colors.
What are the sides of the body made of, alder?

That body looks kinda big.. How does it feel compared to a normel 6 string??? It looks sweet though

Your camera works well enough to make me piss myself.
Are you happy with their pickups?
Simply gorgeous.

Toejam: Yea, I thought that was pretty wild about the logo as well. The build sheet says Maple Neck & Wings, but I think there was a slip up as that sure looks like Alder to me but who knows. FEELS like Maple... Pretty solid.

DRSRacing: It's the EXACT same size body as my 2002 DC-135 with rounded sides. I LOVED my 135 which what made me pull the trigger on this one. If you're familiar with the newer DC Series Carvins, the 7's feel identical other than the wider neck of course. VERY comfortable for me.

A.Pulverizer: Well, the stock Bridge pickup in my DC-135 got replaced pretty quickly (With a Seynour Duncan JB BTW). I won't know anything for sure on this one until Band Practice as that's where it counts. I'll let ya know.

Yeah, the neck is definitely maple. I'm thinking the body is either alder or swamp ash.

Please, DO NOT get me on my rant about 7 string guitars again! After this whole "De-Tuned" thing is over, (and it will be, just look at 80s metal)there's going to be a lot of fantanstic guitars rendered useless. But, I must say that as a woodworker, flamed Koa is a rarity, and flamed Koa of that grade is unheard of! Super congrats on such a nice piece!

I thought seven strings have been around in Jazz for ages. They aren't just for "nu-metal" from what I have gathered. Nevermore plays on 7 strings...they aren't "nu-metal"

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You're exactly right, 7-strings have been around for ages in the jazz world.
Jeff Loomis started using a 7-string a little on the Dead Heart in a Dead World album. It will be interesting to see if he uses it much more for their upcoming album, and they're definitely far from nu-metal. Hell, Steve Vai and John Petrucci, even Joe Satriani's latest album has a 7-string.

k65h: Man that looks sooo good in white! VERY sweet... Is that some kinda Pearloid color? Looks very reflective.

KellyFan: Thanks for the compliment on the Koa top. It looks even BETTER in person! And don't get ME started on the whole sub-genre crap! It's all Metal to me... Sub-Genre's are goofy. You either like a certain Metal group or ya don't. No big deal.

Supercharged 350: hahahah I THINK so...

My biggest concern with this guitar was the pickups. If I didn't like these, 707's would've required some SERIOUS routing and even the Duncan's were gonna require SOME mods. BUT, I pleased to announce that these pickups freakin rule! VERY nice! Practiced with it last night and was blown away. Thus I'm selling all of my other guitars to get more! hahahahaha
