• Kramer guitar question.

The Baretta FR404S/D seems like a great deal. Are they any good?

Re: Kramer guitar question.

Not bad at all realy. There are some QC issues, but not too bad. The over all guitar is pretty sound. The pickups live up to their name, but it sounds better with a good set of SD's such as a Distortion and a Jazz. The bridge is alright, but has a tendency to be brittle if you get ahold of a bad one. I had to replace the part that the trem bar screws into twice. Once I got a good one I had no problems at all. I would say it's a great guitar after some modifications such as an OFR in place of the stock trem and some pickups that suit your tastes better than the "one sound" pickups they come with. Keep in mind this is stricktly my opinion. The guitar as is is a pretty good deal. I would compare it to one of the new neck-thru Ibanez guitars or an LTD neck-thru.

Thanks. I just bid on a brand new nuclear yellow one on E-bay. Sounds like a great deal for a neck-thru, and I was planning on swapping out the pickups anyway.

I have 3 of them and think they're the best bang for the buck out there. The pickups kick ass! They just need a good setup when you get them.

Re: Kramer guitar question.

Just make sure that you pay less than if you bought it directly from Musicyo online which is where 95-100% of all the Kramers come from on Ebay. Most of the sellers don't even actually have them. What they do is list them on Ebay and when the auction is completed they order it from Musicyo and have Musicyo drop ship it in a "gift" box directly to the winning bidder. Most of the sellers don't make much money if any on the actual guitar. They make all their money on the shipping and handling charge. Musicyo has really inexpensive shipping and handling charges. I have had every Musicyo Kramer available at one time or another and they are pretty darn good for the money. The model you are talking about is very nice, especially for the cost. Just check them out direct before you possibly get "hosed" by an Ebay Kramer drop shipper.

I actually did check out Musicyo, and the guitar eventually sold for quite a bit less then what musicyo sells them for. Unfortunately I didn't win the auction. Someone last-minute-sniped me and I didn't get it.
I'm going to keep my eye out for another one, hopefully in nuclear yellow.
If anyone hears of one for sale, hook me up!
