I have been playing for over 27 years blah blah blah and I gotta tell ya,I bought a Wolfgang Special QT Exp Korean import and it is such a great guitar that I just bought another gold top special. Perfect balance, great pickups, drop d tuna, excellent neck, great tone, no frills, ages very well etc... I can't say enough except that out of all my current guitars (I have alot of really high end stuff) the Wolfgang Special is the one I always wind up playing. The thing that everybody says about how great the compound profile of the necks is true. Extremely comfortable and "broken in" feeling. Does anybody else here feel as I do?

Re: Any Wolfgang owners here??
dang thats an awesome deal. Got any pics? Thats exactly the color and everything I would get. How does it sound and play? I wanted a strat for a while for its maple neck and all and then again I wanted a cheaper PRS for a good heavy guitar so the wolfgang seems to be the middle perfect guitar. fill me in bro

Re: Any Wolfgang owners here??
I can't tell the difference between Korean or USA on a Special. I wanted a quilt top and the only way to get one is to go Korean. Actually, the sealed rock maple neck of the QT Exp requires much less care than the unsealed unfinished and oiled USA neck. I have never been a Made in the USA only type of buyer when it comes to guitars although if I have a choice I always go American!!I prefer flat tops as opposed to carved tops and the QT fit the bill for me. I still can't see a single downside or issue with these guitars! Heck, even the resale value is excellent. I would compare them alot to the old Vandenbergs (if the Vandy's had a better trem than the Kahler 2700 spider). Peavey hit a grand slam when they hooked up with Eddy V.

I think the Special is around $700.00 without a case, $799 with one. You very rarely see a used one in the music store because they sell very quickly. $800.00 doesn't buy you much of a new guitar anymore and I feel that the Wolfgang is an exception to that rule. It is a players guitar right out of the box. Used in the store they are around $550.00 On Ebay they are around $450.00 and up. It reminds me of a tricked out tele with a severely bad attitude. It actually sounds brown! Go figure..

Re: Any Wolfgang owners here??
I've seen people buy specials all day for $700 new. Useed is the only way to go though $400 for a used special is the best deal you'll have get on a guitar. I've had all the usa and jap stuff and only a usa jackson beats the wolfgang in the feel department. The sound of a usa wolfgang is almost orgasmic though a good amp.I've fallen, Fallen through. If I'm Not With you, All I wanna Do Is Feel blue

Re: Any Wolfgang owners here??
I agree. I am sure there are lots of factors that contribute to why the Wolfgangs play and sound so good.
The headstock angle and shape certainly effect the guitars action and feel.
The thick solid basswood bodies give them punch, a little darkness and clarity and a perfect weight.
The maple neck adds brightness to compensate fot eh basswood body.
The fret size and neck profile is perfect for chording or shredding because of the way it changes shape from the bottom to the top frets. To me it feels like a Fender at the bottom and an old USA Kramer or Schecter at the top.
The pickups are direct mounted and are custom wound. They sound alot like JB's IMHO.
The direct mount Floyd increases sustain and the drop d tuner adds versatility.
Truss rod adjustments are a breeze.
Contoured neck heel gives easy access right to the 22nd fret.
Pickup selecter is exactly where it should be.
1 volume is really all you need because the volume really does act like a tone with these pickups. Roll it off and it gets mello.
All these features are what makes these guitars so popular. I have seen Eddy many times live and he plays Standards and Specials an = amount.

Re: Any Wolfgang owners here??
I tried a USA Wolfgang recently, and I was truly impressed. The thing that struck me immediately was that the thing felt "alive". It was bursting with sound - I barely needed to use a pick at all. It really blew me away. I plan to reward myself with a really nice USA guitar once my playing gets a couple of notches higher, and the Wolfgang is on the short list. I'd like to check out a Washburn, too.
I almost hate to admit it, but I really liked the Peavey XXX combo I played the Wolfgang through. Ah, GAS. There's nothing like it.

Re: Any Wolfgang owners here??
"Alive" is a great way to put it. Wolfgangs do feel alive. Mine are really loud too. Much louder that any of my other 6 string guitars. I actually have to tweak my live amp rig settings a bit when I switch to one of my wolfs.
