• Paging Chuckracer

Hey Chuck:

I have decided to keep the GMW I bought from Todd and would like to know for sure the wood type for the body. The reason is that I'm yanking that awful Dimebucker and need to know the body's wood in order to match it to the perfect pup. I'm thinking alder, but the body is light that I don't know for sure. Another thing: I'm going to Arizona (Phoenix) in couple of weeks for business and would like to now if there are any good music stores I can check out. I'm particularly interested in checking out amps (soldano, bogner, engl). Any recommendations would be appreciated.

FYI: I just got an Engl Savage Special Edition that is the MOAT (Mother-of-all-tone).
Definately check out the Savage 120 or the Savage SE if you get a chance, they RULE!
I used to have a couple Soldano Hot Rod 50's that got a decent tone if you crank 'em, but at low volume they weren't that killer. The ones I had were only one channel, which required me to have more than one amp and an A/B switch.
I've heard nothing but good stuff from the SLO, but a good friend of mine that knows good tone said that while the SLO is a killer killer head, the Engl is a little better.
Never had the opportunity to play a Bogner, but I sure would love to.
Good luck.

Hi Econ! jem777az gave the perfect rundown on whats available locally, Please keep me posted on when and where you will be. We could hook up for a couple of hours at my bands practice place and you can audition my SLO at high volume through my two G65 loaded 4x12 Marshalls for as long and as loud as you want. You can also check out the best sounding Mesa Recto I have EVER heard there!

Then off to Guitar and Keyboard to play Uberschall and Ecstacy's.

I was about to start trying to talk you out of that GMW, but good call on keeping it. The body is Alder. I've had several Alder/Maple neck/Floyded guitars over the years and really like the Duncan Custom in those. I think that would be the way to go cause yes, that Dimebucker is a horrible waste of plastic and wire, isn't it? Also, the Custom 5, though not a high output pickup, has recently become a top contender for me.

I'll drop you an E-Bomb with my cell number. Keep me posted! And if you want to bring that GMW along and leave it here with me...

Chuck:

No problem my brother. I'll keep you posted on my trip to Phoenix. It would be cool if I get to hang around your band and try your Soldano. I wish I could bring my GMW but since its a business trip I don't think it will happen. I'm gonna buy a Custom and will put it on the GMW, so hopefully that will improve the guitar.

I want to check those amp just to now first hand how good they are, but I'm not buying anything. I'm pretty much set into buying an Engl Powerball, but need to sell my Voodoo Amps modded Triple XXX first.

I don't know of any shops here in Phoenix that sell Engl stuff. I do know that Guitar and Keyboard City on Indian School Rd. sells Bogner, Soldano and H&K amps along with a few others. The other stores that I know of sell your usual Mesa, Marshall, Peavey stuff.

The best music store in AZ that I have been to is not even in the Phoenix area, its Rainbow Guitars in Tucson. The have a killer selection of amps and guitars.
