I can't wait to get mine! Mine will be somewhat simple though. Then I will probably get hooked and save up for one with a quilted or flamed top. I need to work a little bit more so I can have enough money to get one though.
Toe: Becoming? I AM a Carvin Freak. NOTHING but Carvins for me from here out unless they raise there prices considerably. THE best bang for the buck bar none and there 7-string neck profiles were made for me! hehehe
I plan on getting a DC727. I will list the two ideas I have.
Idea 1:
DC727 made of Alder
7 string temolo with locking nut
gold hardware
finished in jet black
jumbo frets installed
no inlays
tung oiled neck (or satin if they offer that)
Idea 2:
DC727 made of Alder
7 string temolo with locking nut
black "chrome" hardware
Ruby Red stain on either a flamed or quilted top(haven't decided yet)
jumbo frets
no inlays
tung oiled or satin neck
I'm not sure what I will get first, but both of them before too much longer...hopefully lol.
Cool!! I plan on eventually getting a DC727 or 747. And, yes, Dave, they offer tung oil, high gloss, or matte satin finishes on any of their guitars (neck or body).
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
Troy, I'll take your word for it that Carvin 7-strings are the way to go. I'll keep that in mind when I decide to acquire one. Thanks. Those are gorgeous, jaw-dropping guitars.
I was just up at Carvin's Hollywood showroom last week (where I got a great high quality music stand at a killer price!), and tried out a few guitars. Played a couple of very, very nice pieces...one of which if I had the dough, I would have bought on the spot!
Troy, I've gotta ask...as enthusiastic as you are about your Carvins, how do they stack up to your GMWs that you've had? And also, why didn't you just have GMW make you a seven string when you switched over to playing them exclusively, instead of going to a new brand altogether? Was it more about the price and lower wait time than an issue of quality?
I wouldn't say the necks are HUGE really... They're larger than the Ibanez 7's for sure. These are the most comfortable necks I've ever felt... But then, I have monstrously long fingers. hehehehe

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">As much as I LOVED my GMW, the nod goes to Carvin for ME just because of the thicker Necks. For ME with my long fingers, it's more comfortable. I'd say quality wise, they're of the same caliber. Carvin is MUCH cheaper, but you get more options with GMW.
