Damn, I need to get me a Wolfie! I´m on the lookout for a bolt-on, two-hum guitar - and the Wolfs seem to fit the bill just right

Hey, Twister, how do you think the american Specials and the Standards compare to each other?

I prefer flat tops so my USA gold top special is my favorite although I do have Korean Quilt top that absolutely rips. The standard arch tops like the the one that Pete is showing a pic of are outstanding guitars in every way. No weak points at all IMHO. A truly perfect players guitar. Pricey, but you certainly get what you paid for.

I played a Wolfie once last year sometime, and I love the feel of the neck
Too bad abobut that body shape - TelePauls just don't do it for me

The bodyshape is growing on me, like the smaller headstock. I do prefer the peavey HS over the EB/MM one for sure.

I did notice that Warmoth now offers a 'wolfgang' neck profile... one of those in a strathead with stainless steel frets? WHOO HOO!

Yeah, Stathead with Wolfie profile - now you're talking!

And I just noticed the body binding in those pics - looks like weatherstripping

Re: Wolfgang Standard

I am awaiting the arrival of my newest Wolf. A black USA standard archtop hardtail with the tunomatic bridge. It will go nice with my other 3. I just installed the EBMM Dimarzio's in my Goldtop wolf special and they rip. The bridge is like a custom wound JB and the neck is very similar to a PRS vintage bass. Great combo and they sound really good clean. The other cool think is that the Dimarzio EBMM pickups have different coil configs so the black and white coils face in a different direction than the Peavey's which instantly set it off from my other Wolfs and gives it a different look. Great player guitars. Fully functional and instantly comfortable to play.

Sweet!!! I love the body shape, similiar to my Carvin SC90, and the toggle switch is just in the right spot, too!

Re: Wolfgang Standard

I had a Carvin SC90 once and a TL60. Actually I have had every Carvin model. I have never owned a bad one. The SC90 with the right configuration is a great guitar. My personal fav is the 1989 DC145. I owned one of Tony Macalpine's black DC145's for a few years along with his crackle BC Rich Assassin from the Edge of Insanity Tour. If you have never played a wolfgang you owe it to yourself to try one.

Cool. I've neve tried a Wolf, but I did play an Axis that I really liked. I'll have to check out some Wolfies soon. I like both archtops and flat tops, but which one feels more comfortable to you?

Re: Wolfgang Standard

Since the american Specials can be had for about $400 used around here, I´ll probably be picking one up as my next purchase. That´s very little cash for an american-made guitar. The swedish importer pretty much dumped the price on new ones, and that drove the used-market into the ground. Lucky me

I'll back up any favorable Wolfgang comment 100%. I've had my trans red original since '97 and love it - it plays and feels like an old buddy.
I had a Special and got rid of it...it just didn't feel the same, maybe it was a lemon?
I've thought about trading my wolfie many times(including this week) but it always seems to stick around. Highly recommended.
Anyone want a trans red one?
