  • Value Estimate on a Custom Shop ST-3??

Hey...I have a question for everybody...especially the BC Rich fans here....I recently got a early model BC Rich ST-3 from a fellow JCF'r.....it is a 1986 ST-3 made in the LA Custom Shop...verified by Tim Keyes of BCR. It is a neckthrough, Kahler Pro, and now has EMG 81-S-S pups.....very similar to a San Dimas era guitar. I have tried to get an estimate as to its value, but have been unsuccessful so far. There is no blue book listing for it, Tim Keyes wouldn't tell me any value due to being "against company policy". I am just kinda curious.

    Thanks for the help.

I've got a few, and they are a pretty easy find around $300-400. Graphics sometimes go a little higher. I've seen more than a couple go under $300 though. I don't know what the deal is with them, as they are some of the best playing guitars I've had. They're the sleeper buy of the century for the most part. High quality USA guitars priced less than most cheaper imports these days! Buy every one you can afford. I don't think they'll stay cheap forever...

Missed the neck-thru part - they don't seem to bring in big bucks either even though they are fairly rare - usually $500 or less. Heck - the price of the hardware is almost worth more than you'd get selling the whole guitar! Hope that helps!

yeah ST-3s neckthru or bolt on dont really have good resale value. if im correct yours is also the oddball early shape with the funny horns. they dont really sell because they look odd, & the kahler is a real price killer. i just sold a USA neckthru custom mockingbird with kahler for $500, & i was lucky to get that.
