WOW- Dean got the neck-thru Superstrat Right!

About 7 months ago the owner of Dean Guitars, Elliott Rubinson, asked me for input on what people would want to see on a Superstrat guitar. This was right after losing the Charvel/Jackson purchase to Fender(Dean was the original buyer before Fender stepped in).

Just about everything I asked for is included! Check this out:

Neck-thru
Archtop
Wild quilt top
Mahogany body
EMG-HG pickups
Floyd
Black Hardware

and I asked that they not mess with the Jackson Soloist shape, keep it pretty darn close.

Here's the final result and I can't believe how cheap it is!

I'm going to call Elliott today and see. There's nothing on the Dean website about these guitars.

they probably are, as this guitar is in the 2004 guitar buyer's guide.

I've seen that kinda quilt on other Deans. It's only a veneer, correct?

I believe the flametops on Selects are the same thing.

It's a veneer on the rest of the Korean line. Not sure about this one. I'll be buying one too.

Nope, that's not the case any more. The import line from Dean kicks serious butt for the money. I have 4 Korean ML's and they are just killer guitars. The new '79 Series are basically reissues of the original 1979 Dean guitars. I had some original ones and these feel very close. They play really well, are well made, set neck, full body, neck and headstock binding, abalone dot inlays. I got mine for less than $500 with hardshell case...brand new. They could use some hotter pickups and a better nut, but other than that, they're great guitars.
