• Good deal on a Dean Hardtail?

Well it *should* feel different, it is a different type and style of guitar.

I enjoy my Deans, but I've never even seen a hardtail in person.

Head over to the DeanForum at: DeanGuitars

You'll get the scoop over there.

I'm still trying to figure out who is actually making the Hardtails. Dean Zelinsky told me at NAMM that a custom shop in "Northern California" was making them. The other Dean "Time Capsule" ML's, V's, Z's and Cadillacs are made at a Dean USA Custom Shop somewhere else.

I'm still trying to figure out why they call it a "hardtail" when it's actually got a TOM bridge. Though, it is a sweet guitar!

Awesome value in a high-end guitar. I played one a few weeks ago. Great neck, look, and tones.

I have two Dean Hardtails, they are awesome guitars. Killer tone and top notch quality.

You can check out the Dean forums and there are quite a few people that can give their opinions. Some of them are Jackson, PRS, etc. guys too. Not only Dean fanatics.

Good deal on a Dean Hardtail?

I need some advice -

I've been plotting my next guitar purchase, more or less a dream guitar. Things I've been looking for are: USA made, arch top, hardtail, and maple or ebony fingerboard. A Wolfgang is on the short list. I'd like to try a Washburn NX6 as well.

Anyway, my local music store has a Dean Hardtail on sale for the rest of the month for about $1500. I tried it out (unplugged) and was impressed. It feels way different from my Jackson DR3. I couldn't tell if it was better or worse, just different.

It seems like a good deal to me, but I don't know if it would be the right thing to do right now. Has anyone played these things? What's your opinion?

That is a very good price for a Dean Hardtail new.
Most of the time they're between $1800 to $2000.
