  • Burns Red Special?

Has anyone ever owned or played one of these Brian May signature guitars. I am interested in buying one. The sound samples on their website are excellent.

ive played one, the neck is quite big but still comfortable. It stays in tune pretty well, and the switches confuse me,so i think it would take time to know your way around them.

I've tried 3 of these in the store. Lots of cool tones available. Sounds just like Brian May plugged into an AC30. I wasn't overly impressed with the craftsmanship on them, and $800 seems steep for a Korean guitar, in my humble opinion. If I found one selling really cheap, I might go for it.

These look to be very nice, though I've never played one:

They also have an accurate recreation of the trem on the red special, complete with roller saddles. Supposed to work great. A very pricey guitar, though.

Lately I have been pretty impressed with what is coming out of Korea and China. I think the USA manufacturers must have really tightened up on the quality control in their overseas plants. Either that or Samick is really getting their act together. The imports from PRS, Brian Moore, Conklin, Epiphone, etc... are really close to the USA counterparts. Swap out the electronics and they are almost identical.

Brian May's guitar is cool as all hell but it's not for me. I do however love the way he joins the neck to the body with that really long tenon and one bolt. Other guitar companies need to pick up on that, I've played one of the copies and it's smooth as all hell.
