Re: Ive found the guitar for me..ESP MII

Old ESP's are good guitars. I have one sitting here in my room. However, I am selling it, and I am keeping all my Jacksons and Charvels, except of course the RRV I sold. As nice as it is, the old ESP is not quite as nice as my IMPORT Jacksons.

Oh, and Newc, I was being sarcastic when I said I knew you were being sarcastic, when you said that he was being... oh nevermind.

I had an old Lynch M1 Tiger, and that thing absolutely smoked despite being somewhat beat-up by the previous owners. They are horribly overpriced new, but a good deal on a used (preferably older) ESP isn´t something I´d pass on just because of the name.

The problem is it would be really hard to track one down and play it. Jacksons I can just buy and know Ill love playing them. My local shop carries mainly Gibsons, Fenders, and mostly cheaper midrange stuff. So finding a high dollar ESP is pretty out of the question unless someone orders one and im there when it comes in. But Im not mad at him for it cuz he doesnt have to sell stuff otherwise he'll go out of business so he cant risk
bringing in guitars no one would buy. and people eat up Gibsons and Ibanez and stuff like that. So seeing cool stuff like Jacksons and ESPs and other cool metal guitars are rare since there isnt a demand for those around here. Most of the Jacksons that have come through here I have bought. Itd be hard to track one down so ill just go for a Jackson since I know it will rule.

Guitars don't rule. Players rule.

ESP = Kramer Focus series guitars w/ Original Floyd Rose trems from the 80's. You want a real ESP?? Go by a Focus on eBay for $150. I just bought a mint Focus 1000 w/ case and a good pickup for $135.

ESP makes some fine guitars. Don't let someone talk you out of something. Go try one out and then compare it whatever else you would consider. Then you can make your own decision. I like ESP I have had a few over the years, and currently own a custom Kamikaze.

Espguitars.com seem to have messed up the specs for M-II

Japanese site has specs listed right.

BK - You're lucky in that if you pay $1600 for an import, it's most likely USA quality
We in the USA don't have that luxury - we get non-USA quality for USA prices

Re: Ive found the guitar for me..ESP MII

For $1600, you should be getting *exactly* what you want, regardless of what that is. That's a lot of dough to spend on a guitar. And since it's a new guitar you're talking about, it's unlikely you'll be able to sell it for what you paid. So getting a guitar you intend to keep for years is doubly important.

Since you seem interested in ESP, you ought to take a drive to somewhere that has a store carrying them, and try a few out. To me, they play a lot differently than Jacksons, even though they look much the same. The necks and frets are way different. If you like the way Jacksons feel, you might not like the way ESPs feel--and vice versa.

BTW, you guys should visit ESP UK. They've got some more models there. I think the black Eclipse I is cool

Re: Ive found the guitar for me..ESP MII

I'd go try one out. You'll never know until you do. I've had ESP's, Charvels, Jacksons, B.C.Rich's, Kramers, etc... and they are all different. Or was until about 10 years ago. Now they all feel alike unless you buy one of the higher end ones. Point being, different guitars feel different to different people. It's all a matter or YOUR opinion, not someone else's or what name is on the headstock. For instance I've never played any Kramer that felt like any ESP. I love ESP's but hate Kramer, that's my opinion though. I personally like to keep different ones around and not just one particular brand. If I'm into Dokken that week then I like to pull out the old ESP, if I'm into Savatage or Dio I take out the Charvel, if I'm into Rhoads I take out the Sandoval, if I'm into my original stuff I take out what fits the mood. It's all about enjoyment. If I had to choose one guitar I'd take my Ernie Ball Music Man. Either way, shop around and see what you like. It may sound like I have alot of guitars but I don't. I have about 7, no two alike and with the exception of the Sandoval you could get them all of ebay for the price of one or two USA Jacksons. Maybe you ought to take that $1600 and get you a few different ones instead of sinking it all in one. Just a thought. Main thing is it's your decission. I heard people really rag on the Petrucci EBMM guitars. I bought a new one reguardless because it was what I wanted. I personally would choose it above any guitar I've ever had which has included a Jackson LTD, Shannon soloist, polka-dot, ESP Lynch models among others. It's just what fits me hands and style the best. The M-II may be that way for you then again you may hate it. Give it a try and see.

I thought about maybe finding a way to pick up two guitars used for the price of one new one. I think if I saved $2000 than Id be pretty set to get two really good ones or maybe even 3. Great deals are all over the internet. I figure I only need 3 more guitars in my life, dont we all. All I need is a king v, SL2H, and something different other than Jackson to play around with and beat up a little. Maybe a strat maybe a wolfgang or maybe that ESP. I think Ill wait a few months after they come out to see if any show up used for a decent price or to see if I can find a shop in SC or NC that have one in stock. I drove 4 hours to Charlotte NC looking for USA Jacksons and found one. But I got to play a Zakk Wylde so it was worth it. Ill just save all the cash I can and start really looking around Christmas cuz people are in a more giving mood and there is always close out stock stuff for the new year.

Just curious as to where you're located at? I'm about 3 hrs. from Charlotte as well. I'm around Johnson City TN. Just wondering if you may be close by. Anyway I've saw M-II's go for around $699 on ebay. I also used to have one of the Lynch M-1 Tiger's and they smoke! They are around the $700 to $900 range used. You have alot of options open to you for that kind of money. Course if you're like me I sometimes feel guilty for haveing guitars lying around and not playing them. That was one reason I sold others and sunk a chunck of money in my custom Sandoval polka dot V and my Petrucci Music Man. I play those two all the time.

Hey Beachjammer its good to see you posting on JCF again. You have indeed owned some really cool guitars! I too have several different brands, including the EBMM Petrucci, and they are all cool. I still prefer my Jacksons over all others of course.
I have two of Beachjammer's ex-axes and they smoke! Now if I could only talk you into sending me that Sandoval

Im in South Carolina. My oldest sister lives in Tennessee. Id love a brand new soloist or king v.
I dont mind a little beat up but nothing major. Ill just save all the money I can and in a year or less Ill see what my options are. If I had $2000 i could go far with that. Id just search for the right deals and if I got really lucky I could end up with 3 great guitars. I also feel guilty not playing a guitar. Ive got 4, 3 electrics and 1 acoustic. Im trying to sell an LTD explorer to fund some other guitar buying but its harder than I thought. ive got one who is real interested but hes got to make some money to get it. I want to sell it for as much as I can so that I can get that much closer to another guitar or two. My main player is an early rhoads pro with EMGs that I picked up for $500. I love that guitar. It just has something about it. My other big time guitar doesnt have EMGs in it so I play it for different stuff like megadeth and early metallica but the rhoads does it all and just has a killer sound, I think at least. Id like a good black soloist with EMGs to just rip on and maybe one more good guitar. Ive mainly owned Vs and explorers. actually thats all ive owned. Id like a super strat and maybe another V or a wolfgang.
