Re: difference of LTD and ESP

I'm tempted to go there...but I'm not, nope, I'll keep quiet.

Damm, can't resist.

LTD was designed to give the poor, working guy who *thinks* he knows a quality guitar a way to squander all his money..

ESP is there for the "poor working guy" when he gets a better job, after making the deduction that since his $400.00 LTD was ASS, than the $349.00 Jackson MUST be even worse.

Re: difference of LTD and ESP

LTDs are made in Korea and in many cases feature less expensive hardware and electronics. ESPs are made in Japan and tend to have nicer appointments. There are also sometimes different body woods / materials used on the same models depending on which line they came from.

Re: difference of LTD and ESP

Based on what I've tried out, I'm highly unimpressed with the LTD's. They *look* pretty, but I've never played one that had decent tone or had a very playable neck. I'm mostly interested in neckthrus and setnecks, and the LTD's I've played of those types seemed like really dead pieces of wood. Maybe the bolt-ons are better...I haven't played those.

Regular ESP's are much better than that, though I'm not a fan of their very 'square' frets.

Jackson is to be commended for putting out a lower cost import line that retains very high quality, even if the inlays are cheap plastic. Better ugly inlays than no tone or playability, I guess.

@ Newc.
I disagree, however. The ESP I currently own, and the ones I have previously owned are/were FAR from crap...ridiculously overpriced, but actually very fine guitars.
My most recent aquisition is a Kamikaze 3 and it sounds and plays like a champ...awesome tone, sustain and a smooth, fast neck.
My old neckthrough, with the Vernon Reid paint job was also a major player and one of my pics for "guitars you regret ditching."
In defense of Newc, all the LTD's I've tried were pretty weak and overpriced.
