• Epiphone! Good or bad?

I am thinking of getting rid of my cherry Es 335 dot Gibson and getting some epiphone les paul deluxe?

And was wondering how good are these guitars!
I would like to hear from you before i play it myself!

I am hearing something of the mini humbuckers?
It's spund very pussy!
Now i need my guitar for some serious shredding!
Will epiphone answer my question?
More than the Es?
What iif i change the pickups with real Humbuckers?

i would buy you an epi les paul if you want to give me your gibson...

anyway, i had an epi limited edition sparkle les paul and they sounded/played great. i had trouble with the squealing pickups, but after i changed them, it was great.

the guitar cosmetically was avg. the inlays had alot of filler, the sparkle paint wasn't cleanly/evenly applied in some areas, and the tuners weren't all that.

but for $350, it's a good bargain.

I **** u not guys!

I am really going ahead with these!
I like the sound of the es very very much!
But in my band it seems that there just is not any place for the fatness of the Es, you know what i mean!
I need something more tight and agressive, not big, and fat!
But still something with humbuckers!

Tried tele's, not agressive enough, and tried Ibanez with Emg, too metalish!

If i get the sound i want from the Epiphone i will not think twice and rather go on stage with it!
And why waste my es home to serve as dust collector!
i'll sell it to someone who will use it grately as someone should these graet piece of gear!

call me stupid, but that is the way i am

The "less intelligent" decision would be to play the wrong guitar. Make sure that you get the proper amount, should you sell your ES, but don't just play it because it's worth more. I have played $3000 guitars that I wouldn't choose over a Model 4 I paid $100 for when it comes to playing in my band. If B.B. King walked onstage with a USA BC Rich Beast, people wouldn't think that it was a bad guitar, just the WRONG guitar. I would trade the ES for a Gibson Les Paul, which sounds more fair to me.

Re: Epiphone! Good or bad?

If you sell or trade the ES 335 I have a very strong feeling you'll be kicking yourself in the a** until the day you DIE!!!
It may not be the guitar for your band now but things change write music with that sound and tone in mind. Believe me you'll be sorry if you get rid of it!........especially as you watch them increase in value over the years.

Don't eat for a week and buy a used Epi for $150 or so. Or better yet hit the guys up in the band for a little loan since they want a different guitar sound so bad. I had a chance to buy a dot neck 335 back in the 80's for $350 when nobody wanted them or knew what they were. I've been sorry I didn't ever since, especially when I see what thy're worth to collectors now!

It may not be metal but you can get excellent tone out of them. You have to stuff the F holes with foam to use them on stage or with any volume. Check ouy what Ted Nugent did with his. He did OK!

sorry .......... I've had a few Epi's and they were good players' nothing like a Jackson of course. You have to play each one so you know what you are getting they tend to vary from one guitar to another
in the old days Epi's and Gibson were made at the same factory..........charlie

Re: Epiphone! Good or bad?

I used to have an early 90's Epi Les Paul Standard, beautiful Heritage Cherry Sunburst and thats were the beauty stopped. Once I replaced the pick ups, Epi's were microphonic, the tuners, all of the electronics, and the bridge it sounded awesome, but that is alot to sink into something to get a good sound out of. Save up buy a real Gibson you'll be glad later.
