Re: holy **** look at the price on this pig

I agree with IM. BM and KM: while you make good points that I generally agree with, IMHO that guitar looks like freakin' @ss. It may play and sound killer all day long, but I won't ever care to try it and find out. I don't sample guitars unless their appearance is appealing to me. And this one ain't. Fugly, and way overpriced too boot.

That price for the LTD DV8 is the "suggested" price--in other words the "list" price that guitars never actually sell for. I would bet the LTD version will sell for about $6-700 on the ground.

Now, the ESP version, that's another story. I suspect retail on those will be over $2000, given the $3200 "suggested" price. And I see nothing about that guitar to justify such a price. Call me crazy, but for $3200 I expect something custom-made and one-of-a-kind.

If you don't like the body style, that's cool. There are a lot of guitars I probably will avoid because of the body style (most strat bodies, for one. Too big for me), but if I run across something I don't really like the style of I'll probably give it a shot anyway just to make sure it isn't for me. That weirdass jagged LTD thing is a good example. I hate the shape, but I picked one up a while back and found that it felt a lot better than it looked.

I've never had any problems with ESP/LTD necks, but then again I prefer a narrow, fat, round profile (I'm not a shredder and I have small hands). The only Jackson with that type of profile is the JJ1. Most of the ESP/LTD's I've played have that kind of shape. You can't badmouth neck profile because that's all a matter of opinion.

I also don't see the point in complaining that the Photoshopped picture on a website doesn't match the actual finish. It's the difference between a limited-range RGB monitor and... umm... REALITY.

The guitar looks like ass. The Jackson wedge headstock is much cooler-looking for it than ESP's "reverse-wedge." The HUGE pick guard (how about making it bigger so an astronaut can't miss it, ESP?) looks awkwardly placed. Dots? To me, dot inlays are the basic of the basic, and are cheap-looking. I'm surprised he didn't get a Kahler on that thing, but I guess he didn't want to be too blatant. The color selection is a joke. For that price, you can get Jackson's entire extensive library of finishes and graphics on a King V.

I thought I heard when you bought one of the esps or ibanez, one of them... you got like necklace dogchain think with artist, band name or something like that *bells and whistles* I agree with u steve, this is the jackson board were supposed to take pride in jacksons!!! I do think the DV8 looks like a big chunk of plastic, and a korny 8 ball add on, what was dave thinking!?!? But I guess its all about making money, which those esp guitars do. when that esp guy came over here bashing jackson i felt sorry for him, being brainwashed by esp, lol. U kinda would expect more from a 3200$ korean made sig model...

The big name ltd line up is worth the money now.The tiger and the baritone lynch axes are
nearly the same apart from logo's..and of course the country of birth

I have a bengal tiger ltd lynch model that i bought over here for a lot of money, when it 1st shipped over the pond. The shop set it up badly and i even had to re adjust the neck in its pocket. Now its one of my favs, with a great woody tone.

But i will say the official ESP versions are waaaaaaaaaaay overpriced..there is no way i would pay nearly 3 grand on a guitar! They need to knock off a grand and make the price real

The DV8 guitar is UGLY and way overpriced. What was Dave Mustaine THINKING? Eight ball? What a joke!
3000 USD for ESP model?
Even if they set the price to $2000, you would have to be out of your rocker to even think of getting one.
For $3000, I would rather have a Jackson custom shop V made!

i dont care about arguing about colour options ect ect ect and what you guys are arguing about i just wanted to know why they charge so much more for the ESP version oposed to the LTD version? Even though all the specs are the same except rosewood oposed to ebony fretboards and the headstock decals ?

Can anyone shed some light?

Because Korean labor is about 1/2 the cost of Japan.

Following ESP's MAP price structure puts the DV8 selling at $2300 and the LTD version at $769.

Also, body wood might be a lower grade.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">True. If anything, because of the cost of living in Japan (especially rent and food), their labor rates are most likely higher than US labor rates, and "made in Japan" is most certainly NOT a way of getting off cheap.

Korea, on the other hand, is the land of $0.25/hour workers making $100 Nike basketball shoes.
