  • Help !! Vintage guitar guys......

I know this is a far cry from anything brought up here usually, but I'm sure with all the knowledge on these boards someone might know something....

I recently came into posession of a Jackson-Guldan "Chris" guitar. It is a short scale small-bodied classical (?) stytle acoustic. I do know they were hand made "budget" style instruments made somewhere between 1910-1940. It has an "adjust-o-matic" neck. Thats as far as my knowledge on this guitar goes. The company hand made several instruments, and I can seem to find many violins, but not many guitars. I've done searches on the web but turned up nothing. Anyone help ??

The only help I can offer is that "adjust-o-matic" sounds like something from the 50's not the the 40's.

Those dudes are violin makers from Columbus Ohio. They did make some cheapo guitars in the 50s and 60s, so its most likely from that era. You wont find much on the web, because they are the Harmony of the violin world.........

Yeah, they were a House brand. They are very cheaply made (the ones I have seen anyway). All I have ever found appeared to be from the 50's.

my very first guitar was a chris. i stole it from my sister, who was supposed to learn, but never did. it probably had the original strings on it. it had a chipped nut, so i put a nail in the headstock and ran the string along side of it, so the nail would keep the sting in place. (hey, i was 8...)

i saw one on ebay recently and got all nostalgic.
