• Fender Flathead models

These look very nice. Can't wait to try one. Seems Jackson is influencing Fender quite a bit.

Yes, the John 5 model is awful. Plus, why would any company give him a signature model?

I suppose John 5 does deserve a sig model more than Mark Tremonti. I've never heard his playing outside of MM.

John 5 is a fantastic guitarist. He does loads of different styles including country and skiffle. He also did the Baywatch theme tune. Man what a guy . I will be hopefully one of the first to buy his sig model. I love Tele's and a bisby makes it for me!

Also he did some work with David Lee Roth.

john Lowery (John 5) is an awesome guitarist in a high profile gig. He has played with many major acts. Why not a sig?

As far as the first 2 guitars are concerned, I don't see the Jackson influence. One is base on a Tele/Esquire and the other a Strat, both Fender designs. How many companies had one pup guitars? When did Jackson create that, and how many Jacksons are offered like that now?

Re: Fender Flathead models

I played one the other day and it did rock. Needs more powerful pickups but it felt really good. Fast and light too...

I saw him play at a club with Two a few years back. He rips, and he smashed an Ibanez that night.

The new fender models are definitely fueling my curiosity. I have never even played a "real deal" fender, but I'd kinda like to give that tele a spin....

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">It's not a question of how many one-hum models Jackson offers now, that configuration (rear-loaded electronics, single-hum, Strathead with black tuners, birdseye maple neck/head) was popularized by Charvel (Jackson) in the early 80's, and became a trademark of sorts that everyone else jumped to duplicate - from Kramer to Ibanez and finally, after 20 years, Fender. Fender didn't even consider dropping the pickuguards until the mid 80's when the HM Strats came out (after they were already losing sales to Kramer, Ibanez, Jackson/Charvel, and Dean). Though I'm no Fender expert, that's the first time I've seen black tuners on a Fender Strat - usually it's chrome or pearloid buttons.

John Lowery is awesome! He was a studio musician and played with lots of people, such as kd lang.

Actually, I just read the Fender description of him:
"John 5 joined Marilyn Manson, one of rock's most controversial bands, after spending years as a top-notch Los Angeles session guitarist. With an arsenal of guitar chops that span a multitude of styles (including bluegrass and country), he got his start working with the likes of k.d. lang, David Lee Roth, Wilson Phillips, Rick Springfield, Rob Halford, Lea Andreone and Robin Zander."
