• I think I'm missing something on these...and they used to be mine!!

I bought both these guitars about three years ago - I KNOW I didin't pay more than $550 for either of them. Now they're on the bay, and these jokers are trying to make a killing on them! I know they got them from a well-known online dealer, and I know he charged them a "fair price" for them - about what they're selling them for, but GEEZ!! Have they been paying any attention to what these guitars are normally going for?

Good grief! If they sell for what they're asking, I'm gonna buy every Gunslinger I can find under $600 and sell them for thousands! I don't know guys -- either I missed the boat and the economy perked up and BC Rich's gained ALOT of value, or we'll see these being relisted for the next two years... I just don't see these going considering how soft the market is now, and knowing what I paid for them a few years ago. Then again, I did pretty much pay through the nose for the ones I was able to re-purchase a few months ago...

The prices are high compared to what these (and others-- i.e. USA Jacksons)sell for. But, you never know if there is someone out there that "has to have it" and hits the BIN.
If the seller isn't in a pinch, he/she can wait it out or adjust the price on the relist.

The lightning graphic is a little high but the Class Axe Skull is right where it should be IMHO. BC Rich Assasins and Gunslingers have takes a sharp jump recently. I guess everybody finally "found out" that they are fantastic guitars. I have had some BC Rich guitars that I sold for a fair price a few years ago that are worth so much money now I try not to think about it.

Chris.. I know I seen graphic Gunslingers going on eBay for less than 600.00..more like in the 400-500 range for a snakeskin within the last year. I'm sure some graphics are more valuable than others..but I would say someone is trying to jack the price up.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The lightning graphic is without it's original neck - it had a maple reverse headstock neck, but that body is (was) mint. It was a good player, but probably the least favorite of all the ones I had at that time - I don't know why. The Skull - while looking cool (it was the best graphic I've had) - is the WORST playing Gunslinger I ever had. I bought it for $500. The neck is finished like a Fender - it's not the raw maple neck Gunslingers are famous for. It had a Duncan Full Shred in it - sounded HORRIBLE, and now it has an EMG. The EMG is probably the ONLY pickup that'll make that thing sound any better. It was a cool guitar to look at, but a real POS to play. I tried everything to get that one to be a better player - I REALLY wanted to like that guitar. In the end, I think the disappointment in that one was alot of the reason I sold all 5 of mine. (Wish I had them all back...) Personally, I don't think it's worth more than $600 - mostly because it IS a Class-Axe guitar. It has NONE of the vibe that the REAL Gunslingers did. It feels like a cheap import. I expected ALOT more. If it were for sale for waht I bought it for, I'd consider buying it again, but NOT for more than twice what I originally paid for it. Especially when you have equally nice USA Jacksons/Charvels that aren't selling for prices half those!

The prices are definitely for the "I HAVE TO HAVE IT" person. Wouldn't surprise me if they ended up overseas at those prices. The thing that really throws me though is that there have been some BC Rich ST-3's on eBay that have had a BIN of $300 or less, and they don't sell. They are EVERY bit the players (playability, feel, sound, etc...I personally find the necks a little nicer.) that the Gunslingers are, but just a little different vibe. Oh well, just goes to show ya! <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">If they indeed are my old ones (and I'm almost POSITIVE they are), then I know why they are selling them so high $$$$$$$$...they paid through the nose to get them. Gunslinger are great guitars, but $1200 great - no! Not even with cool graphics. I've had a few to base that opinion on! Anyway, I think we're seeing a market artificially inflated here, but I'm not surprised at all. It only takes a few people overcharging and the GETTING WHAT THEY ASKED to really screw up the market...

Why are you so sure that both of those guitars were once yours? Did you contact the seller? ALot of bidders that win these guitars never really play them anyway. I am of the opinion that most of these buyers don't or can't play so if the guitars sound or play like crap it really doesn;t matter. As long as the guitar is in excellent condition you will rarely get a complaint. If somebody wants those graphics they will certainly pay for them. Class Axe guitars never go for that kind of money but that graphic sure is cool and it is nice to see it on the cover of an old catalog. Pricing is all subjective on graphic painted guitars anyway. Just look at how much the PencilSketch is up to on Ebay right now!! At the end of that killer thread on this board you would think that the guitar wasn't worth anything. It is already up to $1500.00 with almost 5 days to go. I told Joe that I thought it was worth around $2500.00 easy even without the original pickups and maybe for once I was right. Personally I would have kept it but he did get a killer brand new Hamer Monaco Superpro for it. It will be interesting to see what the BC Rich guitars will go for.

The Macalpine in question was mine.I actually owned 3 of his guitars. The BC Rich from the Edge of Insanity tour and his bass players BC Rich which was the same green crackle with lavender fades.I also owned one of his DC145 Carvins. It was the 1989 black one. That was a monster guitar and he used it in his instructional video called Master Sessions in 1989.

The Kendall Great White Gunslinger was on ebay a number of times before it sold (two or three rounds - it went for about $500 or a little more if I remember right). I think Tracy ended up with it and has recently resold it. I bid on it but got beat the last time which ended up being the time it sold - bummer. I wish I woulda got that one - especially at the price it went for.

JG the macalpine im talking about was not yours. its was not his green-pink crackle it was the JOKER, black, gold & silver, angled checker board kinda graphic.

Chris i was unaware Tracy had it, glass front calzone case? I know there was one on ebay about a year ago that was NOT Kendalls but a replica of it. i was pretty sure HIS went for closer to a grand. that was one of the GSs I actually wanted & watch. It really sucks because i know for a fact ed r. built a few artist replica BCRichs & passed them off as the real deal.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That's probably the case then - it must have been a replica. It was cool though, and went pretty CHEAP. I was lloking REALLY hard at getting that one! Roman is such a dink. Why BC Rich even bothers with him after all the damage he's done to their reputation is beyond me. It's like selling guns to the Iraqis while they're shooting the bullets at us, ya know? Give the guitars to someone who cares and will actually perform a SERVICE to customers - not to someone who is a thorn in the side of so many buyers...

The seller emailed me on the Lightning one - yep, it was mine! He bought it for $1000, so he just wants to make his money back. I feel for him - he'll have a tough time at that price.

I remember the Joker when it sold on Ebay. It did go for alot of money. Way more than I got for the ones I had. Personally, being a Macalpine fan from the beginning I like the green crackle one the best. That Joker was a serious axe for sure..

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I did contact the seller on the Lightning - haven't heard back yet though, but it doesn't matter - I know it's mine because the paint layout PERFECTLY matches the pics I still have. The lightning one was a GMW refin. The seller described it as having new paint, and when I sold it, the dealer who had it advertised it as such - he went so far as to say "GMW refin - and we all know how much those cost!". There aren't alot of Lightning Gunslingers out there, nevermind one with a body in near mint condition, and it's not a ClassAxe guitar, it's an original. I also know that the guitar sold without the original neck, because I have it on another guitar, and the dealer told me what kind of neck he sold the guitar with. Too much coincidence to not be true.

The Skull is also mine - I still have pics, and if you look at the 13th fret, there's light streaking in the wood - exactly like mine. The ding he described sounds familiar - I think I used a paint pen to fix the problem. The dealer that bought it from me sold it for $1200, so I guess I'm putting 2 and 2 together. Since I've never seen another, and with the wood streaking on the fretboard, it's safe to say it was once mine. This person took the time to change the hardware - the EMG and OFR, which were a Duncan Full Shred and Kahler - so I'm assuming he was probably a player.

I'm not trying to start a total philosophical debate - I just find it interesting and coincidental that what I bought them for and what they were sold for (and now being RE-SOLD for) are so in contrast. Because they paid that much for them (too much IMHO, considering what I paid for them), they are now turning them and the market was REALLY INFLATED because of that. They are $500-600 guitars to be sure, but not a GRAND or more - that's all I'm getting at. It just gets out of hand sometimes.

It will be interesting to see what happens - I'll bet they won't sell however - at least not at those prices. I just wish they had never left me in the first place!
