Anyone know anything about these? I like SG's, and this one has an ebony board and only costs like $900. My only concern is that it sounds almost TOO cheap, like it is lacking in something.

Re: Gibson Voodoo SG
I think they're cool, always loved the SG shape, but it's made of swamp ash and will definitely sound brighter than mahogany, and will be lighter weight. Swamp ash does sound great, though, if you're not looking for a true SG sound.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Its is lacking somthing...... A FINISH. ..... and its made of ash. If you want somthing that sounds like a SG, stay away from this.. ...
My 2 cents

Re: Gibson Voodoo SG
None of those voodoos sound like their regular mahogany counterparts be it the SG, V, EXP, or LP. They don't sound bad, but ash is brighter and a whole different tonal animal. I agree that the faded series is the best bang-for-the-buck Gibson. They sound traditional and look great too (the brown SG looks better, and more vintage styled than the faded red). I threw a set of Duncans in my brown faded SG and it turned it into a new guitar in both sound and looks. Also, they come with dots now instead of the stupid moons. Try them first though as they can have pretty spotty fretwork.
