i just checked it is plywood , stay away for it unless its super cheap.i could have bought one awhile back for 125.00 canadian(whice is like 89.00 us)but i wouldn't even pay that for it.

Yea, run away from that one.

If you want a nice deal, grab a Kramer Focus.

They are cheap, but are pretty much the same as a Baretta or Pacer. They even come with REAL Floyd.

He just mailed me back, he wants $150 for it, cheap enough?

How about putting an EMG in it...then the wood type doesn't matter, right? they sound the same in any guitar.

Re: How about this one ? Kramer

ahh, type of wood is a very debatable issue. I would say 100.00 is ok if you are really interested. Strikers are pretty much the bottom of the line..you'd be better off with a 3000 or a focus. I haven't really checked out and played the new ones so I cannot say how they play.

I'll try it and see, it looked pretty good when i saw it the other day.

Re: How about this one ? Kramer

I think the Charvettes with the 24-fret necks and JT6 trems have solid wood bodies, but still, you have to keep taking the neck off to prove it to your buds!

The Striker? The neck's worth $30 with hardware, the bag maybe $20... if you pay more than $50 you paid too much. There's a Model 4 on Ebay with a $249 BIN right now, that'd be lots more worth it than those 2. If you need a $100 guitar, buy
a Yamaha RGX or RGZ 3xx Series. They're much better than a Striker, or a plywood
Charvette.

And yes, plywood even makes EMGs sound
dull and lifeless!
Ron is the MAN!!!!

Hmm I think I'll offer him $100 for it and se what he says, that leatherbag looks pretty good after all

But a local store has a Charvel Charvette for $300, I gotta check that out first.

Re: How about this one ? Kramer

Well Charvettes are bottom line and Korean made as well. In my opinion, you'd be better off with a made in Japan model series or toothpaste Charvel for that money.

It doesn't hurt to check out these guitars, some guys like some Charvettes.. but money is money, make sure it's something you want that says "play me!"

Wow I thought nothing could kill off EMG's

ok, I can read the "stay away" sign pretty clear from here now... Guess i should be looking for a Model 4 or Baretta
and stay away from everything else

This one is totally sweet!!! why must i live in Sweden

Hey Bob.

This is a little long winded..

If you really like the guitar then go for it, after all.. opinions are just that, and the only person who matters is you.

That said, there are a number of quality issues with the Kramer Striker Series.

1: Plywood.. general thought of as a poor tone wood with little or no acoustic resonance.
2: Hardware... generaly thought to be lower quality, a lot had the Floyd Rose 2 trem which started out as a single locking device, graduating to a double-locker.. considered a poor version of a Floyd by many.
3: General fit and finish is thought to be poor in comparison to higher end Kramers, fretwork ect.. but this is very subjective and there may be fine examples.

You mentioned price, well for $150-$200 on Ebay you should be able to find a Kramer Focus, which was made in Japan, comes with an original Floyd, Schaller hardware and are generaly built as well as the Baretta and Pacer models.

In the end, if you can hold out for a Focus or Baretta/Pacer, you might be happier than if you went with the Striker.

Do not count out Carvin's , they might not have a killer headstock. But there quailty is top notch , on par with a USA Jackson. There only downfall is a low resell value (why I do not understand)which works out good for you. Check this one out cheap for a USA made guitar.
