        Re: Epiphone SG-400

Obviously quality pickups would solve that problem. I eventually traded it for some other guitar

Pot or replace the pickups and you will have a real winner.

i know the newer epiphones have (i believe) korean copies of gibson pickups in them (i have an epi lp), and they never squeal! actually, they don't sound too bad either...

              Re: Epiphone SG-400

I had the G400C 3 pickup version in black. Put a JB in the bridge and a switchcraft switch and jack. Had it wired like an SG Std. 2vol, 2 tone. Middle pup disconnected. Gibson machines. It had a pretty beefy neck, but I used it at alot of gigs. Sounded and looked killer. I sold it and took a beating on it considering the cost of parts and labor to make it really nice.

                Re: Epiphone SG-400

I bought an old Epi SG copy off a kid in college for 50 bucks. The neck was awesome and it had nice huge frets, but the pickups were awful. They didn't sound half bad, but the feedback was outrageous even when i was just playing at low volume in the dorm. I eventually destroyed it....it was only 50 bucks?!

I once had the G400. It was a cool cheap guitar, but couldnt touch a real SG, not that you should expect it to......

                    Re: Epiphone SG-400

I had one of those G-400 SG's. It's nowhere near my real SG's, but then again niether is the price. Mine played smooth and the Epiphone 57 classic pups sounded pretty nice playing through my J-station and headphones. It was a nice, cheap guitar I kept next to my computer to dick around with whenever the mood struck me without having to dig my expensive guitars out from under the bed and out of their cases.
