The access is probably much better than you think looking at it. I have a Peavey Vortex Rhoads knockoff with a very similar cutout. It's only 22 frets, but I have no trouble reaching a G that would be the 27th fret if the board went that far, sounding it off the bridgeward end of the neck pickup. I even have good enough leverage to bend it except the Peavey Invader pickup copies don't let you bend!

And yeah, my Peavey looks like ass,
but it plays and sounds pretty good for what it is (a $95 guitar). It has a decent Kahler Pro on it and the
Invader knockoffs actually sound PFG.
I'm sure those ESPs have better access than it does, which is my man point. It's accessible enough, so they should be also.

Here's what Alexi said about his ESP guitars in Metal Maniacs.

"They made it the way I wanted, exact copies of the stolen guitars. This touris the first time I've been playing with them, and I"m totally comfortable. I love the neck, pretty much the same neck I had with JAckson. It's pretty thick, not like the ones on normal metal guitars. The only porblem is the pickups. I have to get some new ones. They're not hardcore enough."


I like the ESP ones. They're just a tad different and it works for me. They Look like incredibly playable, especially on the upper frets. Not that I'm a wanker though...but if you wanted to be a wanker, I think that guitar would be the ticket.

I think these guitars are cool even they are not my taste.
The cut on the body is for the higher fretboard access.
It seems the body is bigger than Jackson's RR V.
Maybe this will effect the sound to be thicker.

Just my opinion.

I think that ESP could have come up with a more attractive way of getting around the Jackson copyright in the Rhoads design without putting that awful 'hump' in the body at the neck joint area. Definitely ruins the design. Otherwise, they all look like cool guitars--and I really like Alexander's designs. I guess ESP needs to update its page to reflect that he's not in the band anymore, though...

I actually like both (or all 4) of the guitars. I have never been a big fan of RR's but I like that two Alexi have actually
