Re: Help me decide....fender style....

Thanks for the info TC ! You wouldn't happen to know a good place to get a replacement bridge for a mexi, would you ? I understand that it is one of the main differences between the mexi and the usa (I don't want to do any body mods). I have a set of black sperzels in already and wanted to change the bridge piece to black and get some decent saddles for it. Any info would be appreciated

Re: Help me decide....fender style....

Another question for anyone who can help. The neck shape is a bit uncomfortable (by no means unplayable, though). I'm rethinking the body mod thing now. I would prefer a flatter back shape (ala the speed neck). Can the backside be shaved down and be usable or is there a similar replacement available ? Or, would I be wasting my time with that.
(thanks for the patience with the questions, first time with a strat after years of resistance !)

There really isn't much point in replacing the bridge, unless you go to something like a Callaham. Play with it a while and see what you think. Also, I would through some sperzels on there before I installed the roller nut, to see if I needed it. I have a partsocaster myself which is made up of an old Strat plus and a mystery body. The Sperzels are key, but I am not sure the roller nut does much. Mine has texas specials, the American bridge (which I don't like) and all the Plus parts. I paid $250 total. These are all over the place if you look...and don't need mint. The best thing with a strat other than the tone and playability is the fact that ever part is easily changeable. If you dig the neck on the one you want, but want to upgrade the body later on...easy. Have fun.

cool beans you can reshape the neck easily but i would think twice about the roller nut IMO they suck, a good graphite nut is fine especially with sperzels, hell they kept my grestch with a bigsby kinda in tune & that says alot.

I got a cheap copy of a Jackson guitar in a local store here in Puerto Rico by 1989, to start to take lessons. I bought a Mexican Fender last week at eBay, because I wanted to have a Fender (whatever the language it speaks), and its sounds really fine (though it can't speak English). But; My heart is in a Charvel project I'm in now... got a 2C model body (at eBay), J90C pickup (in a local stoire), a 22 maple fretboard with shakfin inlays and the little Charvel logo in the head (from eBay too), and when I already got all in my hands, a Floyd Rose II will be order. Then I'm will think about the painting job, and the last step will be put all together. Depending on what will I have finished, pics will be post to have a judgement of you Jackson/Charvel guys. I know I will have the victory cause I'll ended with a Charvel in my possesion.
