• check out this ibanez....

Picked this up cheap ($250) from Drum City Guitarland. Normally I wouldn't post an Ibanez, but being a fan of early charvels and kramers, this guitar holds my interest. Mode is RG-410 made in 1986 and was Ibanez's obvious attempt to copy the superstrat design. They are pretty uncommon. I beleive If Ibanez had continued in the tradition of this guitar, they would have attracted a different audience.

I ripped out the stock pickup (which was coil tapped) and installed a DImarzio Super Distortion I had laying around. Its got a really cool baby blue burst finish (burst is very subtle, but it is there..very cool in person). NON recessed Edge Trem, wingtip strap buttons, single volume and angled humbucker with Basswood body and Rosewood fretboard with mini dot inlays. Neck is very similiar to the early Charvel necks, and has the skunk stripe to complete the look.

So how does it play?? Awesome. It has smaller frets, similiar to the King V and that gives your fingers more room at the upper register. Never been a huge fan of Basswood, but combined with the Dimarzio SD it sounds really killer. It cuts through really well without being shrill, and has a natural fuzz to the overall tone. I would definitly pick another one up if I come across one.

This one is in killer condition, and aside from a few nicks in the paint, looks fresh out of the factory. The original owner bought it, lost interest and kept it under the bed. Fret life is 95%. No discoloration or rusting of any of the hardware.

Yup. Further evidence that Ibanez have always been shameless copycats

Note the tilted humbucker (Kramer). They were doing these while Jackson and Charvel were coming up. Before that, the RG guitars were Strat-style (top routed) with rounded edges.
This one actually appears to be a transitional model between the Kramer and Jackson designs (flatter edges).

Very nice. I always wanted one of the flametop versions they made around 1983 or so with 1 hum. I believe they did a cherryburst finish and a blueburst finish as well, with a straight hum. Copycat or not, the early 80s Ibanez guitars play very very nicely.

Definitely good players, I'm just on a personal war against them for customer disservice

A friend of mine had one of those older RG models like that, but it was a white/purpleburst (white outer burst with purple innerburst).

Awesome color! and with the black hardware it looks even better!
Those had the nicest neck of any older strat style Ibanez's made. I love the body shape but didn't like the look of the slant humbucker or the headstock.
Nice score Deviltronic!
