Picked this up cheap ($250) from Drum City Guitarland. Normally I wouldn't post an Ibanez, but being a fan of early charvels and kramers, this guitar holds my interest. Mode is RG-410 made in 1986 and was Ibanez's obvious attempt to copy the superstrat design. They are pretty uncommon. I beleive If Ibanez had continued in the tradition of this guitar, they would have attracted a different audience.
I ripped out the stock pickup (which was coil tapped) and installed a DImarzio Super Distortion I had laying around. Its got a really cool baby blue burst finish (burst is very subtle, but it is there..very cool in person). NON recessed Edge Trem, wingtip strap buttons, single volume and angled humbucker with Basswood body and Rosewood fretboard with mini dot inlays. Neck is very similiar to the early Charvel necks, and has the skunk stripe to complete the look.
So how does it play?? Awesome. It has smaller frets, similiar to the King V and that gives your fingers more room at the upper register. Never been a huge fan of Basswood, but combined with the Dimarzio SD it sounds really killer. It cuts through really well without being shrill, and has a natural fuzz to the overall tone. I would definitly pick another one up if I come across one.
This one is in killer condition, and aside from a few nicks in the paint, looks fresh out of the factory. The original owner bought it, lost interest and kept it under the bed. Fret life is 95%. No discoloration or rusting of any of the hardware.
