I really like the 500XL, but after playing a Duncan Distortion against a 500XL I have found my pickup of choice. Seymour Duncan wins hands down. I have compared everything to the Duncan and nothing touches it as far as I'm concerned. The 500XL is a pretty good pickup though. I could even get harmonics out it effortlesly with my mids scooped totaly out. That says alot. Seymour Duncan Distortion rules!

I agree the Duncan Distortion rules! I have been useing that pickup for years and frankly I never understood why George Lynch stopped using it. On one of my GMW's I had EMG's put in and they are in a close race for first now. The EMG 81 is an amazing pickup.

Re: Bill Lawrence L500XL vs Duncan TB-6
I put a TB-6 in the bridge of my SL-1 and couldn't be happier. I also put a hotrail in the neck and dig it too. I can roll back the volume when I need to and get just the right mount of bite when I bring it back up..

Re: Bill Lawrence L500XL vs Duncan TB-6
I've got the regular SH-6 Distortion (non F-spced) and it is one of my favorite pickups. It has been in my 650XL for 10+ years now. Question for anyone who might have experience with both: does the higher DC resistance on the TB-6 make a noticable difference in sound when compared to the plain Jane Distortion?

HEY eddie can u post a pic or link of that warlock.....
how much of a difference is the distorion to the XL is it a tonal difference or output. IMO the 500L has better tone than the XL & output is only slightly lower.
