Re: opinion wanted....

thanks guys, i'm kinda leaning toward dying it purple and seeing how that goes.

i originally planned on putting a maple boarded neck on it, but when i did, it looked like ass. i was pretty surprised, but the darker board really looks better.

while i was gonna age the neck a bit as i mentioned (along with a few other darkening tricks i've picked up, i kinda think that purple is gonna be the way to go. i've got the same thread on CC, and it seems to be the popular opinion. and hell, if it looks bad purple, black it is! Yeah, definitely purple. If it were a maple board, then I'd keep the headstock natural.

By the way, forgot to add: Love the new avatar.

"The Young Ones" was one of the funniest shows ever. Can't beat Motorhead playing "Ace of Spades" in the living room.

Do you have the DVD of all the episodes?

My vote: Purple would be best. Natural would be a close second. Looks good, Sully!

                        Re: opinion wanted....

Ya know if it was me (and it's not so do what ya want:p) I would leave it and just stain it vintage laquer. If it was a lighter color it would be cool to match the headstock. With it being black (the first pic) and having a rosewood board it would be too much black. As for the purple burst I would do it with the quilt overlay and match the body.

Black all the way,if it can't be purple, only way it would look ok with a natural headstock IMO is if the hardware were black. But the gold with a matching or black headstock would look sweet.

it was mainly just the lighting in that pic, gil, there's not much black on the face at all. i hope to grab some veneer and see what i can do to match it up...

                              thanks again, guys.

I think it would look nice with a purpleburst headstock overlay that mirrors the direction and grain of the purpleburst on the body including the fade to black edges. A gold Sully logo with all gold hardware would finish it off. Its killer for sure. It almost looks like a Fede swirl.
