Weird guitar/Gary Moore..

Hi.

I was watching the video to "Out in the fields" by Gary Moore when I saw him play on this "thing".

Anyone knows what it is and how it works? It seems to have both strings and a keyboard that makes it sound like some kind of cembalo.

I think Holdsworth owned shares in the company as well. I think they only made about 3 or 4 of them before they went belly-up..........

A lot of Allan's crappy late 80's albums were recorded with the synthaxe. I saw a video of him ripping a solo on it and then blowing into a tube and getting horn sounds. [img]graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img] Weird as hell.

Actually the tube ran down the hill to a local pub [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Or into a bong - guy had to be plastered to even consider replacing a real guitar with that.....thing.

I always thought that was very odd - A staggeringly talented player like Holdsworth, applying his extraordinary skills to a guitar that made him sound like a regular keyboard player! [img]graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img] [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

No kidding. Some of his earlier stuff will melt your brain. I remember the first time I heard Holdsworth...he made me want to give up. Where EVH/Randy/Lynch/MacAlpine inspired me to keep playing - Holdsworth pis$ed me off. [img]images/icons/mad.gif[/img]

If you haven't already, listen to the solo on "In the Dead of Night", 1st song on UK's debut album. Awesome solo. In fact that whole album kicks.
