Chandler Guitars?

Anybody know any history on Chandler guitars? I have a chance at one with Red Snakeskin, 2 EMG`s, Gold Floyd, bolt on, maple board.I heard they were made in California, but that`s all I know about them, any good? Thanks-Jack.

I´ve always liked those Chandlers...they´re great C/J-style guitars with impeccable quality. If he´s not asking too much - go for it. That one sounds like a real looker, so be sure to post some pics if you decide to move on it.

Thanks Dave, it was actually custom ordered without a Trem cover, no screw holes even there!! What are they work in very good condition? Thanks-Jack.

They're worth about 200-300 bucks in excellant condition with graphic.

That`s all their worth, really? Wow, they look really cool, but they must have some issues? Please explain the low price on these beauties? Man, that puts them in the range of a Peavey Vandenberg, and they are some cool guitars and short scale, but that reverse headstock [img]images/icons/shocked.gif[/img] Well, I might be able to get by that [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] Stupid me passed on one in Black one time because of those headstocks, what was I thinking [img]graemlins/poke.gif[/img] Jack.

Sometimes guitars are undervalued. Especially guitars from that era.

part of that may be they were more known for higher end parts. & if U bought the parts & assembled them yourself they were not all that expensive kinda like performance, warmoth & schector. & i know some of them were expensive when bought as assembled guitars but not there necks & bodies.

I have a Chandler neck from the 80's that was from a complete instrument, not the typical aftermarket version of their necks. It is good quality. I wouldn't say it is any better in any way compared to a model series Charvel neck with the only exception it has a true Floyd Locknut route.

Thats mine guys. I bought it from the original owner. He paid over 1G for it new in the mid 80's. He ordered all the parts right out of the Chandler catalog at Guliano's Custom Guitar shop in White Plains, NY. Guilano's was pretty well known back then for making custom guitars called Vulcan's. Peter Frampton played one but they got sued by a major manufacturer because of the headstock design (I think it was either Dean or BC Rich) and had to cease production. The estimate of $200-$300 for my Chandler is crazy.
Original Gold OFR, Active EMG's, Red Snakeskin body, killer maple neck, etc... doesn't add up to $300.00. At least not in my book. Maybe $300.00 for the body only. I was talking to Slayer about his Hamer Blitz. I've never owned an Explorer type guitar and you guys all know how G.A.S is when a guitar player decides he wants something. I figured that it was a VERY fair trade for his Blitz in blue. It seems that you guys don't agree. Thats cool. [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img]

i'm not appraising it at all, i just thought it sounded familiar, so i went lookin. i thought that was yours, jgcable, and i'd say it's worth more than that! i'm terrible about placing worth on things though, but you're right about the parts alone being worth more!

Thanks Sully. I didn't post it available in the classifieds only because I recently started a thread about how cool it is and I didn't want it to sound like a pre-marketing scheme. That is why I approached Slayer privately. BTW, your purple Sully is killer. [img]graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]

The Chandler is a killer guitar though. A refin in checkerboard on Slayers Hamer Blitz is definately in order.

Roughly $300 is just what that would bring on the open market, unfortunatly.
It may be a nice guitar, but I thought you were nuts to go deep on it.
