Re: Identify this Strat

GC by my house has the same one with a duncan bridge pickup for 259.00. Played better and sounded better than the MM Axis that was next to it! Played em through a Marshall DSL halfstack that also sounded like ass until I plugged the head into an old Music Man cab that was also 259.00, BOY what a difference! I guess 259.00 was the magic number that day!!!!

Not much. The highest I have ever seen one go for was $385.00 and it was a flawless time machine mint condition cream and maple with hang tags and original mint case. They usually sell anywhere from $150.00 to $295.00. The combination of crappy pickups and a butt ugly locking trem and locknut keeps most people away.. including Fender nuts. It is probably a nice player. Most of them are.

Re: Identify this Strat

Well, according to 8 reviews at Harmony Central (they're all in agreement and they can't all be wrong!), this guitar I am inquiring about is definitely not a Contemporary Standard.

The CS had a bridge humbucker, an adjustable flip-locking nut, a mid-boost circuit, and an adjustable screw from the bottom of the guitar to adjust the tremolo.

The one I am asking about has none of these.

So, back to research, fellas!

You do realize that Harmony Central reviews are mostly written by 12 year olds about their first guitar?..........They can be a source of comedy from time to time, but thats about it.........

Re: Identify this Strat

There not alot of research necessary. What you have is a Jap strat with a locking trem. It is the model in between the stock Jap and the HM. They are a dime a dozen and worth between $150 and $275. There is no mystery on that model. Every pawn shop and used guitar shop on the planet probably has a few. Usually when you find them the bridge has been modified and the locking nut has been removed.

Re: Identify this Strat

I have one in Ocean Turquoise. I don't know what it actually is, but it's the best playing strat I've ever owned. My buddy has a Telecaster version. I've been told that it's just a Jap standard with a locking trem. Mine is an '86. I did change the pickups, and I hate to say it, but right now it gets more play time than my Jacksons. Does Uli Roth riffs very well.
GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

They are great players for sure. Just upgrade the electronics and your all set. Some of them have microtilt too. The fretboard edges are usually rolled and the frets are very nicely done just like all of the Japanese Fender necks.

I still have mine that I turned into the EVH 1 strat. Replaced the bridge with a floyd. Chris guitars has one in sunburst for 325.00. Not so rare at all, don't understand all the fuss!
