I bought a new Zakk Wylde Epiphone Les Paul Custom and it is better than most of the Gibsons I have ever owned! You should give them a shot, too.

Ibanez, Tokai, and Aria all made great Les Paul copies back in the day. Take a look on Ebay.

I've heard that Agile makes a good Les Paul copy for the price. The guys on Harmony Central seem to be crazy over these things.

If you can find a Tokai Les Paul Reborn grab it. But the last few I have seen are no longer "cheap" $800+

The Tokai love rock's are OK depending on place of manufacture.

get a prs tremonti se which i've seen for $350 on ebay w/ bag. they are pretty damn good stock. and if you want to make it even better, add some burstbuckers into it.

i also agree w/ the others on the tokai and heritage.

i also had an epiphone le sparkle top les paul that was pretty awesome. i think the epi stuff is hit or miss (mostly miss), but if you look hard enough, you can score a decent piece.
