I really don't dig when people talk negativly about Epiphone. I'm of the mindset that a guitar should never cost more than $1000, there's just no way! In any case I saw a picture of Marty Friedman playing a red Les Paul Custom and when I heard that guitar on the album I thought it was simply amazing.

I went out and tried the Epiphone's (because of my refusal to pay those crazy prices). I found that Epiphone has this new Elitist line of guitar that are pretty spectacular in build quality and at a good price. My only gripe is that I actually like the regular Epi head and the Elitist line has a tweaked version of the head.

See if you can locate a Yamaha Weddington Custom. It's an awesome guitar and can be found at crazy cheap prices.

the weddingtons are really awesome guitars the other guitar player in my old band had one, much easier to play than a real LP or most copies, because of the neck heal. he had put a JB then a screamin demon in the bridge & it sounded great either way he prefered the demon i like the JB better.
& dont know if youde be into these very cool much nicer than any LP imo. LP kinda they were made back when Rich only made good stuff so u dont have to worry about it being a POS, the pickups lack by todays standards but still do the job. plus you have coils taps & a varitone for more tones than you will ever use.

Yep, a Hamer USA studio or Studio Custom or Monaco Elite or Manaco Elite Mahogany(mahogany cap), worth every penny and a Gibson can`t touch em!! Jack.

I don't believe Agile is "going out of business." Agile is just one of the name brands Rondo uses — Essex, Brice, Agile — they're all Rondo. They've modified the LP shape a little bit (rounded the horn a bit is all I can tell) and no longer call the models "LP," but they're still making them.

I got a black Sparkle Top LP4000 a while back. Pretty nice for $250. Probably as good as my "real" 70's Gibson LP Standard, if a little heavier (the more dense the Mahogany, the cheaper it is, generally speaking). Pickups were absolute garbage, though. Squealed like a horny sow! But a set of Dimarzios fixed that. The 2800 model supposedly has better pickups.
