Re: Les paul Standard v. Classic

The older LP Studio models are great guitars. Another option would be to try and find a Yamaha Weddington Custom...I have had mine since '91 and will never part with it. They pop up on ebay and always sell pretty cheap. Ebony boards, Dimarzio p/u's, fully bound body, neck & headstock and beautiful flame or quilt tops...killer guitars.

Jackson made the AT1T for a short time. (someone correct me if I'm wrong) Its bolt on, 22 frets, and has an ebony board. Made in the USA. If you find one it should be around $500 or less. I think they pop up on ebay every once in a while.

        Cheers,

i am a purist and love the standards.
go on ebay- check out these japanes copies
that are set neck and very close if not the same sometimes as a true gibson standard. you can score a nice one cheap sometimes.
                1- tokai love rock
                2-ibanez-70's lawsuit copy
                3-orville
                4-greco
there really are some awesome ones on the bay quite often, many jap dealers, but they are for the most part honest and reliable. check it out.

Re: Les paul Standard v. Classic

I just traded for an 83 les paul studio in TV yellow and it has the les paul tone and vibe and weighs in at 8lbs.The dealer was asking 700.00 but I would have nocked 100.00 off for the condition (lots of buckle rash and finish checking which I like). So check out your local mom and pop music stores and I know you'll find something.Consider an import jackson stealth HX 3 hums tun-o-matic strung thru the body a totally BAD A$$ guitar. You can find em for around 250.00.
                    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

                        New guitar = $500 to $1500
Pliers = $10 at the hardware store ...
