  • Les paul Standard v. Classic

Is there a differnece between the les paul standard and the les paul classic aside from pickups ?

Im seriously considering getting one, as I have become entirely too sick of floyd rose guitars.

If one planned to swap out pickups, would there be an advantage to going standard over classic ? seeing how classics usually tend to be a bit cheaper.

i would go for a classic with the 60´s-neck. very nice to play for a les paul.
two friends of mine own a classic and it is a great guitar. i think the standart has a bit higher weight.

Hrm, I think thats what I was considering. Im so sick of the ****ty locking nut and Jt6 on my jackson.

Are there any other decent string through / stop tail guitars?

the ****ing bolt is stripped on my JT6 so i cant put on new strings, and im debating wether to just buy something new or get a OFR.

what about the early 90's studios with an ebony board ?

Thats a good idea toejam, just unfortunatly here at college I dont have any plyers.

Im so sick of the floyd, does anybody have any suggestions for guitars other than gibsons that have stoptails ?

                          i ordered a RR-5 today with string-through-body.
but this is not lea paul style thing, you know what i mean.
if you want a LP than buy one, if you are only looking for a guitar with stoptailpiece, the go in a shop and look around. there are many guitars without trems. e.g. Jackson, PRS, Gibson, MusicMan, and so on.

Thing is, im very limited finacially, and would prefer to spend less than 800 or so bucks. Which i know i couldnt do with a les paul.

How are those early 90 studios with the ebony fretboard ? Do they have the tone and feel of a les paul without the razzle dazzle looks ? Or would I forever be stuck knowing im playing the poormans LP.
