Re: Got my cheapo BC Rich STIII today.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Nah, I have nothing to plug into to try it. I'm actually going to remove everything, and put it back (or as close as I can get it) to stock. It was a pretty invasive installation, but professionally done, so it's not hacked up. Basically, they enlarged the route for the bridge pickup toward the neck so that it could be moved about 1/4" away from the bridge to allow enough room to squeeze in the MIDI pickup. All I need to fix this is an oversize pickup ring. No biggie. A five way selector switch was added to switch between pickups, because 2 of the 3 on/off switches were taken out and replaced with up and down buttons to control the MIDI synth unit. I will be replacing the on/off switches, and disconnecting the 5-way, but leaving it in, rather than an empty slot. Other than that, the only external evidence of the MIDI gear is the giant plug next to the standard jack. It's going to leave a pretty big hole when I take it out, so I might just put a plank plate over it rather than try to fill it and touch it up. It's a player, not a beauty queen.
