Re: Does anyone else LOVE Fenders?

I like strats if a humbucker is installed in the bridge. Some J-basses are pretty cool too, especially the fretless ones. Other than that fender isn't really my bag. I hate the headstocks and pickguards. A lot of the necks are pretty cool, though.

I can dig Strats and Teles, though most of the time I don't like the feel of Fender's necks. I prefer the feel of the old Charvel Strats.

I like the Jazzmaster too. Did they ever make a hardtail Jazzmaster? If I got one, I'd want a Gibson-style stop tailpiece on it instead of that goofy looking trem.

One of my favorite axes is my 83' strat with EMG sa's and an added floyd! Candy apple red and a great neck on that one!

Black Mask: Start bodies are too big for me to play comfortably while standing up. That's why I had to sell my Model 1 ( ). I've never played a Strat that I liked either the feel OR tone of. They're just not my thing.

Hey BM. Like Jazzmasters? I do too! Check out my 'grail'. It is a 100% stock clean as they come see through blonde early '59. One of 6 known to still exist that is true blonde (not aged white) with gold anodized pickguard. Ash bodies on Jazzmasters sound the best in my opinion. I wanted one of these so bad for many years and I finally scored this one a couple of years ago.

I want to save up a bit and get myself a Hardtail with a rosewood fretboard, too. Although I prefer black. Another cool thing about Fender - almost limitless colors and options straight from the factory.

Another thought: It's shocking to me how many people make things like headstocks and fretboard inlays a priority. I can't imagine disowning a guitar because of those things. Body shape is one thing... but headstock shape? I guess whatever flips your switch.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The fact that they're easy to mod is one of my favorite things about them. As one guy put it, Fenders are "built like machine guns". If you need a part, it's there! Great playability and tone is only a quick repair away. Also, Fender leaves enough room in the cavity to put in any humbucker or single coil you want.... you can take any Fender on earth and make it completely your own guitar.
