Re: Does anyone else LOVE Fenders?

I don't like Vintage Trems, I dont like 3/4 of my guitar body being pick guard, I don't like singe coils, I don't like the way the neck feels, I don't the volume knob right on the high E string, I don't like dot inalys, and I don't like 21 fret necks. Other than that I guess they are ok....

I don't know if you can totally blame Sonic Youth for the price increase. Kurt Cobain had a broader impact on the market and Jaguars and Mustangs don't get what Jazzmasters bring. The main reason why I believe the Jazzmaster has begun to outpace Jaguars as an example is because they are next in line after the Strat, Tele, and Esquire as it is the only other full scale guitar made in the companies golden era. Jaguars and Mustangs will always be less desireable because they are short scale instruments.

If you ever have a chance to get a nice, old still playable Jazzmaster, I say go for it. They are amazing guitars so long as you don't need to dive bomb. I have had atleast one Jazzmaster for each year up to 1968, I have had multiple 1962, 1963 and 1964's. Between 1958-1964 there were atleast 3 neck shape changes, so it is best to try the different carves out to find what you prefer.

I've recently got me a Telecaster. A Japanese'62 model in black with black pearl binding/guard and gold hardware. It's a beautiful thing, but it's bloody hard work to play!

                      I did not know that!

I do have an instructional video of his where he is playing a BC Rich Ironbird. I think that's the only time I've ever seen him with it....but, I suspect he's got several different guitars from several manufacturers laying around his house.

Iommi played a Strat on the first Sabbath record and Pagey played a Tele on the first Zeppelin album. It's all true!
