<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">The fact that they're easy to mod is one of my favorite things about them. As one guy put it, Fenders are "built like machine guns". If you need a part, it's there! Great playability and tone is only a quick repair away. Also, Fender leaves enough room in the cavity to put in any humbucker or single coil you want.... you can take any Fender on earth and make it completely your own guitar.

Jim: And that's why I hate you. That's so damn nice looking. I was at a guitar show a couple of weeks ago and it was all I could do to not sell a kidney to get this beat to hell '63 in Dakota red. I thought my head was going to explode when I saw it. Quite unfortunately, I couldn't find any black market organ dealers over the weekend.

Re: Does anyone else LOVE Fenders?

I just sold my '66 Ocean Turquoise turned green Jazzmaster backup at the Philly show. There were lots of vintage Jazzmasters there. I did score a late '59-'61 Jazzmaster body while I was there that needs a finish. You have planted the seed to do it in red!

Re: Does anyone else LOVE Fenders?

how well do they stay in tune?

i had a ibanez guitar it cost about 210 bucks, and it got out of tune a lot.

it kind of scared me to go back to non floyd rose guitars.

i think i might have to get a tele, my hand hurts badly on these jackson necks, there to thin and make my hand hurt

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Any $200 guitar like that would have tuning problems because of the cheap materials used, i.e. the nut material and the tuners, and probably even the bridge. It's not for the lack of a locking trem. It IS possible to have a non-locking trem that stays in tune if high quality parts are used.

Still though...I'd like to have a Jazzmaster with a stop tailpiece, just because I never use a trem anymore.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Yes, I'm quoting and responding to myself...

While looking around on the net, I just noticed that the Jazzmaster trem has a "lock" button. That would be enough for me.
The bridge saddles look similar to what is on a Tele. I wonder if those mounting posts are spaced the same as a Gibson ABR, because I'd probably replace it with one.
