    Re: The next Charvel ?

I think PRS for sure as it appeals to a very large fan base. You see how many new bands use PRS guitars plus they appeal to older folks (cool wood patterns and awesome finishes). Thus a very large fan base and there is already enough interest to have supple and demand $$ reflections for the early ones. PRS will be the next biggie in collector guitars.

I am shocked that Kramer (early oens) are give aways right now!! Those were cool.

Also good buys at present that will I think will be collectible later are the San Dimas Jackson's and some of the NEWER less common models (I honestly think like a sweet tones or someting that didn't catch on). I think these will also be desired in another few years.

My vote PRS (almost a given), early Jackson and the wild card would go to some of teh Ibanez artsist guitars (jems, Paul Gilbert, Dream theater dude, etc..).

        I would say Fender.
Because they are one of the first companies and will be there forever.

Fender Custom Shop people build amazing stuff.
Check some of their custom works(notin the catalog but in thier custom shop book or calendar).

Fender has been around and will be forever as long as people play electric guitars.
I have seen many new ideas coming from thier catalogs and always impressive.

Besides Fender, John Suhr builds great guitars and will be releasing his original amps and Custom Audio Electronics(amplifier) OD-100(he designed itwith Bob Bradshaw and John is taking over the rights and production this time) in next year.
How many guitar builders can design and build guitars and amps? and both in fantastic quality and sound?
His company is small but so much going on there.

I have owned a US Masters guitar, and let me tell you, it was the best quality and playing Strat type guitar I ever played or seen. all top notch components and it was litterally flawless, I hope they stay in business, because one day people will miss these awsome luthiers. Jack.

Only certain Fender's will be cool. There is gaining desireability for pre-1999 Relics called the 'Cunetto' era (he was the guy who reliced them for Fender, it wasn't done in-house). Strat Plus guitars from the late 80's seem to be getting some attention as well.

I believe 1980's G&L's are going to be cool, especially ASAT's and Broadcasters (which are already cool).

It would be nice to think San Dimas Jacksons will rise sharply in demand, but I am not fully convinced desireability will grow much more than where it is now. Maybe as people get older and gain extra disposable income, they will pay more for this stuff than they can now and drive prices up a little.

Valley Arts and Yamaha Pacifica with Warmoth wood??
They are all gone years ago.

Rudy is not a builder. He is the owner of the store and brand.
John Suhr (www.suhrguitars.com) do make bodies and necks by themselves and I believe they don't buy wood from Warmoth.

John also worked at Fender Custom Shop and Custom Audio Electronics before his own company.

True, building amps and guitars are different things but knowing how to build amps would help how the guitars should sound through amps.

As much I don`t care for Ed Roman, he is right about PRS, the newer big heel models are not as nice as the pre-heel from hell ones.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">"NONE" of the newer models are as nice as the 86-90'ish PRS guitars. (OK, maybe the pervertedly expensive private stock guitars.)

The newer "big heel" 22 fret models do in many ways SOUND better, because the pickups are spaced considerably further apart which greatly affects the out-of-phase settings and harmonics.
