• Ibanez RG help? which pickups?

i just got a brand new RG1570 and hate the stock V pups but it plays so F**kin good i could not pass on it!(best shred neck i ever tried) Ok,it has been said beofre that these guitars are thin in tone and need help?
I need duncans that work with these RG's(basswood body, ultra thin neck, locking trem, all acess neck joint)
i play metal with shred leads(vinnie moore, macalpine romeo, murphy, malmsteen) like a real good tight low end for ryhthms with clarity and a good non screechy lead tone?

I am surprised you dislike the V pickups. I think they are pretty nice. Especially the V2.
My suggestion would be to go with the pickups from the Satriano JS or a Jem of course. They usually have Evolutions, Tone Zones, PAF Pro's, Nortons, Air Nortons.

I put a JB in the bridge of my Ibanez, works really well in there I think.

Ibanez and DiMarzio were made to be together. I used to only play Ibanez in the 80's-early 90's. Some of the best shred albums were done with Ibanez guitars and DiMarzio pickups. Try a super distortion in the bridge and a paf pro in the neck...or if your amp is hot enough 2 paf pro's (I still use that combo today). The tone zone is pretty beefy, but I never liked it with a basswood body. All of JG's suggestions are good as well (we overlap on a couple).
GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Re: Ibanez RG help? which pickups?

I just finished putting duncans in my RG570 a week ago and they rock! I used a tb-12 screamin demon for the bridge and it took all of the brittle 'tinny' sound out of it. The middle is a vintage staggered although I would suggest a more modern version of it due to pole height, it sounds good but i had to bias it pretty heavy to the treble side to pick up the higher strings and avoid touching the middle strings(I use really low action plus the fretboard is so much flatter than a strat). For the neck I used a sh2-n (jazz neck) and it has beautiful clarity. Actually the demon sounds really good clean too. All three of these p/ups are medium output and seem to balance really well. The demon will shred with the best of them and has a great lead tone through a mesa rectifier(John Petrucci-ish). I used a 1meg vol pot and a 500k tone pot with this combo. Good luck on your project, duncan makes wonderful pickups!!

Dimarzio would be nice.
Ibanez usually uses Dimarzio pickups or thier own Ibanez pickups for cheaper models.
There are many to choose from and you should check thier website.
I believe they have some audio samples.

dimarzio tone zone in the bridge...i owned an older usa custom (!) graphic series (cosmic swirl 2) and the tone zone was brutal in it...d.m.

I just ordered a Jazz neck and a Custom bridge for my RG1527. They should be in pretty soon. I can let you know how they sound then. Although, I have a feeling they're going to be pretty badass from everything I have heard from others.
