Gibsons on the other hand hold their value relatively well. I don't think he was worrying about resale value of the Ibanez. I had one for a week once waiting for a case to come in so I could ship it. I thought it was a great playing and sounding guitar. I really like the Ibanez 5 way pickup selector config with the auto coil taps. Its hard to compare the 2 guitars because they are completely different. A mint Studio is only worth around $600.00 tops right? That is what the RG3120 has recently been selling for used. That would mean all the other stuff he is getting would be free. Sounds good to me.

He's trading a classic tho..they're usually over a grand-1300.00 depending on finish/condition/year.

I say no deal. This guy probably has access to the perks at cost if he works at a music outlet. It would probably cost him less than a grand for everything.

If what you are getting is what you really want, why not but seriosuly,You are losing money here.
Do you really need the wireless? and the video?

But again, it is all up to what you really want by getting rid of the Gibson.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I was thinking about that, but I can also pick something else I'd like. I really don't get used to the LP's neck (very little) and since I haven't had any cash offers from people or forum members, I decided to trade it instead.

Re: Trade Help

Hey, if it a flexible deal where you can say I want this or that.. instead of ..well, that seems like a better situation. Like DJM bascially said.. as long as you feel you got what you want out of it and got a good deal in the trade.

You seem to want to get rid of the Paul..then it's a matter of determining how much value it holds and getting the same in trade-in's rated at cost or like value. He may be looking at how much your Paul would be at something like a Music Go Round too. It sounds like you can work out a pretty close to equal value deal.

Sorry for the mix up. I thought you had a Studio. A Classic is worth much more although I still think it is a crap guitar and no where near the shredder that the Ibanez is. The Classic is certainly worth more than the Ibanez although I would rather have the shredder instead of a Les Paul "lite".

Jgcable,

Les Paul classics are as close to a shredder les paul as your gonna get (thinnest necks). There great guitars and probably the only decent priced thing Gibson still offers.

It sounds like you've already made up your mind about not wanting the Gibson. Although I'm an Ibanez fan myself I would probably just sell the Gibson, there are TONS of good deals on USA Jacksons here on the board and elsewhere. You'll probably even come out with some change! Sell the Gibson...buy a Soloist!
