i guess i'm nuts, but i really like the weight of them, and have gigged many 2 hour shows with a 71 custom. light guitars make me feel like i'm gonna break em. thanks for the clarification of classic vs standard - i always wondered the difference.

Re: Comparing Les Paul Standard, Custom and Classic

I played a few classics and they were much lighter than the standard or customs. I heard they drilled holes in the body of the classics to act as tone chambers when actually the holes are drilled to lighten it up.

Jeez, you have these kick-ass LPs leaning up right next to a fireplace...you don't plan on using them for firewood do ya?

Actually the picture looks like an add for Fender to me. "Once you try a new Stratocaster, you'll wanna put those 'other' guitars to good use"

Seriously, those are 2 VERY nice lookin axes.

I`ll 2nd that on heavy guitars, I love em, all of my my guitars except 1(Jackson USA Fusion) is heavy. I usually prefer all mahogany guitars or at least mahogany body and maple neck. My 1993 Jackson USA Archtop Soloist is heavy as hell and I love it Jack.
