• Resident guitar builders, qt on a band saw

I saw Lowel's has a 9" band saw for $100, is that a good enough size for cutting guitar bodies or is there a sort of minimum size that is recommended?

9" should be more than enough, but don't forget, it also has to have the power to get through 1-3/4" of solid hardwood.

It depaends on the shapes your cutting out. I had a 9" and could cut a strat shape out but thats about it. If you plan on building guitars I would go for 12-14". Habor Freight Had 12" bandsaws for $100 on sale. They most likly cheep quality but I'm hoping to get at least 25 bodies out of it.
good luck.

Well I made it down to lowes, explained I would be cut'n 1 3/4" solid mahogony, & various gutiar woods, the guy wasn't too sure so he called up a supervisor and he said I would get through about 2 cuts and then it would blow on me. He said to check into a 14" bandsaw.

I dont got any more for it anymore anyway
