Originally posted by j2379: theres always the schecter C1 i think, pretty much the same. stratish shape, set/neck thru, TOM with string thru, 2 hums, fairly cheap. ive heard alot of good things about the quality of those import schecters i tried one & it was pretty nice. nice frets, nice feel, good fit & finish.
after working on my buddys ibanez AXwhatever i wouldnt suggest ibanez to anyone unless it a highend. his guitar had bridge posts that the inserts wobbled, because they drilled the holes oval....or just too big. the frets need to be levelled & crowned some bad dead spots, even with HIGH action it was still noticable. & its almost always out of tune.

The quailty between the 2 is on par (I am now partial to the Jackson, though). The big differences are the SLSMG is neck thru and the C-1 is set neck and the C-1 comes factory with the best tuners, bridge and pickups you'll find on an import (tone pros, grover tuners and real Duncans - which I pulled for some EMG's ). The C-1 is a prime example of what Korean guitar manufacturers are capable of but rarely do. It was my favorite until I opened up that SLSMG last night

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">About the Ibanez I owned a RG320 for several years and for the money it was hands down the best guitar I have every owned. be it charvel, Epiphone, guild. It does not compare with my SL2H but it only cost a fraction if the sl2h. My son knocked it over on a concrete floor and broke the neck just below the headstock. I continued to play it for 2 years after that until it finially broke completely off. It had a Floyd licensed copy tremelo and I never had a problem with tunning. It stayed in tune as well as my SL2H does with the OFR and 10 times better than the charvel with LCFR. To bad about your friends guitar. But it seems junk can slip through from any manufacture. ie my import charvel (POS). As far as the Schecter a friend of mine told me how good his was. So I figured I would try em out so I stopped in on 2 differnet GC stores in the Dallas area and played everyone they had. (GC is not the best place to test a guitar though. Could be totally differnet once setup to your specs) I could tell they were well made guitars. But the necks just were not to my liking. And the tone, I thought was poor on all the models I played. Probably just the stock pu's. But if I was spending the money for a high end guitar. It would only be a USA made guitar. Just my 2 cents.
MF has the SZ320 for $399 on sale in Black only, it looks like a cool basic guitar, somewhere between a Strat and a LP. since it is an Ibanez, I mught go $100-150 used for one to try it, but not $400. If I am going that high, I am patient for awsome used USA Hamers-Carvins or Jacksons, there are deals everywhere right now if you are patient. Jack.
