    Paddok,

Email Boogie Streets and ask them their opinion on the guitar... Tell them your fears with all you've heard about the Ohio custom shop, and they will be pretty honest. Their prices are high, but they want you to be happy. I betcha that mockingbird will be amazing. Also, try the Bc Rich board

    http://www.bcrich.com/bcrbb/

There are alot of idiots there, but a few guys who really know their stuff and will give you the full story.

deviltronix if you go to the bc rich board ask either ronz or lurch.....lurch has a beast 7 string and ronz is quite the knowledgeable person on bc rich....IMO the bc rich is alot nicer then esp....

Ronz is not all that knowledgable.....he just owns alot of them. Trust me i dont go to the BCRich board because of all the asshole know it alls there. when people dont know what a warlock II is & make dumb statements like ALL USA MADE BC's say made in USA on them, & argued that fact with me. also remember it is BCRichs board so i dont know how much negative posts your going to read since they can delete them.
BTW heres a link of most of mine you could buy just about any of them for $1500 & some you would even have some change left. & these are consistent & almost always great players my toys

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">People that say that BCRich is alot nicer than ESP usually have not ever played a custom shop ESP guitar like my explorers. In fact the quality of work on my custom ESPs is alot nicer than my Jackson custom shop guitars. Except of course for my 84 San Dimas rhoads. I know BCRich made some great guitars in the 80's but I am sorry the new BC Richs cant compete with ESP guitars. I am not talking about LTDs either.

no i agree the newer bc riches are not anywhere near the older ones in quality. i have an 85 warlock.....and i think it is one of the best playing guitars ive ever played. i prefer my rr1 mainly out of fear of putting any marks on the warlock, but there are some nice esp custom shops i just cant play on a soloist body guitar...not knocking any other guitar makers just my preference....

I ceretainly don't want to get myself in trouble here, but the word is people were jumping up and down with joy at BC Rich when Jr. left.

The hand made USA Rich's I have seen in the last 2 years are very high quality, and I definately would be one to send um back if they weren't.

Alphawave, that Mockingbird has been on ebay a million times already. Ask for close up pics and ask about flaws.

the quality of the old ones is odd tho. the fit & finish is not as good as the newer ones. & even back then was not as good as most of their competitions, C/J hamer dean. inlays usually had a decent amount of epoxy around them, there is almost always a finish flaw. BUT they play very nice, & sound great & i think they look pretty cool too. the new ones look like they have much better inlay work & the finishes are glass like.
as for ESP ive owned a few early ones & they were great i just cant see spending that kind of $ on one. IMHO with most higher end guitars its a matter of opinion since they are all well built.

That Warlock is impressive looking at a distance. The story of it is all over the BCR BB and the Moser Custom Shop BB. Lots of flaws, lots of errors, and not built to spec. In fact, it's the second one because they screwed up the first one.

I haven't been to impressed with the handmade series ones I have seen since the move to Ohio. It looks they they have cheapened them somehow. But this is damn impressive.

I've never played a USA BC that wasn't disappointing in one way or another. Don't get me wrong, for the most part they played fine, some brilliantly, but it was usually the quality of the finish or the hardware, or the general attention to detail that was lacking.
Admittedly, I've never encountered any of the original 70s/80s models (I SO want one of those!), but I have tried many from the "Metal Era" thru to the present. None ever come close to the quality you get from the likes of Jackson and Hamer, and that included some alarmingly expensive custom jobs.

THAT SUX i feel bad for that guy ,but almost everytime i bought a guitar without playing it first i regretted it.

as for BCRich finishes, they were always kinda crappy, even the old ones. they did not use a grain filler. the finish sinks into the pores of the wood & leaves small pits, some you can even see the waves of the grain after years & the seams in wood. ive got an old USA warlock neckthru & the finish flaws are silly, its dyed purple then cleared with blue/purple mettallic & there are sand thrus on the purple base. but its typical bcrich, the way i used to ID romans, & other fakes was the finishes usually looked too good.

I feel very, VERY lucky. My B.C. Rich is a good quality, great playing guitar. The other B.C. Rich's i played all sucked majorly.
