  • I played a 1961 Fender Stratocast

After my guitar lesson i went upstairs to the guitar shop. I was looken around and this guy came up with some old guitars. The only one that caugth eye was the 61 Fender Strat. It looked really old. The body sadly was poorly refinished to a black color which looked like black house paint. the frets were redone too. My friend Matt who works there was playing with it, then allowed me too. I was afriad at first to even touch, but finally did. it was pretty nice to play something that old. My only problem with it, was the High e fretboard area seemed lke it was cut off ( i can't explain it.) kindof like there was no botton fretboard where the strin lies.

all in all it was pretty nice and (i can't believe im saying this ) gasp want a fender

You might want to rephrase that and say you want an old fender.
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

the nicest strat i've played was a 1960 slab board strat...it was killer. the 60's reissue strats aren't too bad, imo.

I think the best strat i've played, is my old guitar tutors foto flame strat. The silver burst finish looked nice. Nice tone to it too.

The best Strat I ever played was a '56. I have played a few 1954's, but don't care for the necks on those. 1956 was definately the best year for its neck carve and the useage of ash in the body (they switched to alder by 1957). 1959-1961 Strats are very cool as well. I love the feel of those necks (which is the key feature I love about my '59 Jazzmaster).

This will sound odd I know but I like the foto flame strats the best I've had american stantards 60s, 70s,USA strats and I have to say my favorite strat to play was a 1 hum 2 single foto flame floyd rose jap strat. It was an 89 with the DiMarzio humbucker and floyd II and beat to hell and back.Just a outstanding guitar.

One of my all time favorite guitars was a beat to hell and back 74 Strat with a shaved neck and board, big frets, 1 hum, Floyd, maple neck and light ash body...that was my #1 for many years.
