If you want a neck-thru copy whose body is a little smaller and want the choice of any neck or body wood, get a Carvin SC90. Though, it's made in the USA, it is a great price compared to other USA and import guitars.

I've been drooling over one since a friend of mine bought a Carvin bass and I found out how good they are.

I've got the rounded sides on my SC90. http://carvin.electricshockmusic.com/toejamsc90_2.jpg http://carvin.electricshockmusic.com/toejamsc90_1.jpg
Why not get a Guild Bluesbird. You can score a slightly used one for under a grand, made in the US with SD pickups--lighter better balanced weight--and IMO nicer tone too.
Some of the Korean made:
Dillion
Agile
Samick
Tokai - korea made models
Epiphone - korea/china made models
Everest
ravenwest
dean evo
Hamer imports
Ibanez artist 250
Nelsonic
Also, keep an eye out for::
Hamer usa studio
Heritage H150
Dean EVO Deluxe or Premium (czech made)
Any set-neck Dean EVO, whether Czech or Korean, would be a great LP killer. I used to have an EVO Phantom, mahogany neck and body, and it sounded great, with just the stock Dean pickups. The Dean neck joint is better than any other LP copy OR Gibson I've ever played.
My old Fernandes LP is the BEST. Wide, low frets, binding over the frets. It is JUST like a LP standard, except the price I paid for it over 10 years ago. My actual first guitar.
I contacted them about it a few years back to enquire about the pickups cause they weren't too bad. They said they were just made for them and the model was not sold in the States. They were in UK Guitar mags around 92/93.
The Ibanez Ar250 is a sweet guitar for the money. Solid mohagony body and neck with rosewood board and a set neck. Also an older Ibanez artist, an old (80's0 Japanese) Epi Genesis (looks like a dble cut LP and are solid mohagony),
also Yamaha SBG1200 are great and neck thru as are the 80s washburn Falcon series. (again it looks like an Artist or dble cut Paul. A friend of mine has a black Falcon and it is killer. Neck thru, ebony board, bound neck and headstock, mophagony neck and body and maple cap. Sounds like a Paul too.
