I have about 3 unfinished birdseye necks at the moment, ranging from 3 to 7 years old. I think that if you keep them away from drastic temp changes there won't be a problem. This can be said with any neck though.

I would go for a killer red sparkle, like on the guitar Vai played in Crossroads, I love that colour.

Dunno about the birdseye/flame debate. Lee never cautioned me against birdseye when I ordered my guitar, Charvel/Jackson have used it lots over the years. My fave guitar at home as a super highly flamed and birdseyed neck and I haven't touched the truss rod for about a year now that it's settled in. Got it November 2002, did a few adjustments but nothing in recent times, and thats over all 4 seasons. It looks like this, and if there are problems with figured necks, it should probably be an unplayable warped nightmare. [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

I just remembered that funnily enough, even GMW does recommend that you get your neck coated with something other than just oiled. They don't guarantee an untreated neck but will do it for you. Most places are like that. Oil her up and take your chances. No probs so far for me.

I'm between green, red or a dark blue color. I guess I'll have to make up my mind today, cause I'm calling Lee tomorrow to place the order.

Is there any particular reason why you're in a rush to order it by Tues? Knowing Lee, it probably wouldn't matter if you ordered it tomorrow or Friday, he's still got lots of work to do ahead of beginning work on any new guitars...

unless the body is already cut and ready to paint.
I guess he has some bodies sitting around ready to build some.
And paint solid color for GMW is fast.
They usually take much longer time to build necks than bodies.

Lee already has a body ready for paint and also have the neck available. That's the reason I want to place the order tomorrow. I hope it doesn't take that long, since he doesn't have to build the body or neck. We'll see.
