• Carvin the best bang-for-buck bass ?

I'm looking for a cheap bass to pickup, and I really like a look at alot of Carvins. And it seems that there are a bunch of used carvin basses on ebay ending arround 300 !

Are the carvin basses as good as the guitars ?

Carvins are one of the best bang for the buck in Guitars also!! I have played a few and they were excellent, but their pickups were kinda muddy and were, well linda sterile, but the guitars themselves are smokin.Carvin really should offer Duncans at least on their guitars as an option, even the JB would be better than the carvin pickups Carvins basses has bolt-on and neck thru Basses, so they have a nice selection, but I wouldn`t hesitate to go used either, their QC is very good and they have ebony boards!! Do a search for:

          peavey foundation

I just did one, and about a half dozen came up.

Although I would recommend looking at a Schecter.

A few hundred bucks can also get you an old charvel japan bass... I paid $200 out the door for a neck through bass that plays wonderfully.

I recently bought a Model 3B bass for $250. About the same time a friend of mine bought a Carvin bass for $450. If I had the money, I'd go with the Carvin without a second thought. It's not that the 3B is bad, the Carvin is just that damn good.
