no, it is before they started putting the burstbuckers in standards....so it has whatever they put in them before that...I forget.

Anybody know a place that has replacements for Kluson Deluxe tuners? I like the big Keystone-style tuner keys on my Standard, but they slip out of tune too easily. I'd like to find some Grovers with the same style heads.

For some reason, regular tuner buttons just don't look right on a Standard (Jimmy Page Syndrome? )

Re: The Les Paul Thread

i've owned alot of different paul over the years. i like lance's alot. get it? lancelot?
anyway,
i like standards better than customs. i just like the feel of them better. it is weird as rosewood is my least favorite fretboard.
after a strathead charvel, a les paul is my favorite guitar.
Not helping the situation since 1965!

Re: The Les Paul Thread

I've got a pair of '96 Studios, a white one (turning cream), with ebony board and gold hardware, and a heritage cherry w/rosewood and gold hardware. Love them like children! I've had three other Studios, a Classic, and a small platoon of Epi Les Pauls - there wasn't a bad one in the bunch. I replaced the pickups and put Grovers on the Epis, and they were pretty decent. They were the older mid- to early-90's models with the straight logo (rather than slanted), so they had actual mahogany bodies and maple tops. Sounded as good as any Gibsons I've had. Guess I just got lucky there.

Re: The Les Paul Thread

Cool topic...Here's my LP:

She's a 1980 Les Paul XR-1, purchased by me in back in High School in 1981 (yes I am OLD!!). My first 'REAL' guitar. I was a huge Jimmy Page fan back then, so getting a Les Paul at that time was a dream come true.

This was a 'lower end' Norlin Gibson; they were only made for a few years. Came stock w/ a coil tap that I found very functional. Heavy as a MF'er ! Awesomely thick tone more than makes up for the weight issue. Original Gibson p'ups are long gone; She now sports a Duncan '59 in the neck and a Custom 5 in the bridge.

Although, I have been bitten by the LP bug lately. I've got a severe jones for a Reissue.
